Yarm's No More Excuses!

Nice workout, Yarmi. I wish I had the get up and go to get up early and work out. It just seems like every time I try the bed is too inviting. Good for you, though.

I was just thinking the same thing myself!!! LOL
I need to go to bed early enough so that the bed wouldn't be so inviting.
Great Job Yarmiah!!!

My motivation for getting up early is:

-new workout dvd's : Rockin' Body part of Beachbody series
it's new, and fun and I actually WANT to do it

-I know that as the day goes on, I will find numerous reasons NOT to exercise so best to get it done early

-I have made a commitment to do the full 30 day schedule that came with the program

-If one of my kids or hubby needed me to get up early for them, I would do it- I wouldnt WANT to, but I would. I decided I NEED me to do it for ME- I may not want to do it some days, but it has to be done.

Love the attitude!
Now I just need to steal some so I can get to that point of doing it for me!

Seems, I'm not allowed a break- but more like it that this is life and I have to deal with it.

I didn't bother to post earlier in the week that we suffered yet another death in the family. Mark, my uncle married to my Dad's sister, lost his father. The viewing is Sunday and the burial is Monday. He was in his 80's and had a long, happy life, but we have all been through so much as of late, the timing just really stinks.

Last night, I get home and husband wants to go to ER. Has been compalining of severe lower pain near his abdomen. He saw his doctor on Monday, but things have gotten worse. They took a catscan and see there is edema around his rectum. They are not sure what/why this is and there is a consult with a surgeon today. Again, timing couldn't be worse as he jsut started his new job as a teacher last week. Not only is he worried about missed time, but the time that he may miss is crucial as they are training him "how to teach". Remember, he has been a mechanic for 25+ years and is to now be teaching that in the local school system- he has no clue how to teach it.

Thank goodness I got my workout in early yesterday, or it never would have happened. I did eat OK, but never had time for dinner. I may need to take today as a "rest" day as far as exercise goes depending on what unfolds at the hospital- am headed there as soon as I finish this post.

Completing the DVD's is my mini challenge:

Awww Man Yarmiah,
Your not kidding about it seeming like you can't catch a break.
I'll be praying for your hubby that all turns out well with his appt's.

Go ahead and take a day off. You don't want to exhaust yourself while you are worrying so much. But then tomorrow jump right back on it.

Just got back from the hospital. All in all it's good news. He had a surgery to drain the abscess they found. They are keeping him overnight and will continue antibiotics, but if things go well, he may come home Sunday.

As I spent the entire day at the hospital, I didn't get my work out in as scheduled, but I will just swap Sat for Sun and count today as a rest day and get the workout in tomorrow before I go back to the hospital. My food choices were limited because I was at the hospital all day. I grabbed a yogurt for breakfast and brought a banana for a snack. Lunch was cafeteria snacks and dinner was chick fil A that father in law brought me.

Completing the DVD's is my mini challenge:
17 days complete, 11 to go

Breakfast: lowfat yogurt,
Snack: banana
Lunch: small bag of pretzels, 2 cookies
Snack: rice cakes
Dinner: chick fil a sandwhich(no mayo) small fries

Hey yarmiah! I am glad your husband is doing ok.. I bet that was scary... Looks like you are on a roll with the weight loss and getting back into the swing of things. Keep it up!

Hi Yarm,

I'm glad to hear that your husband is recovering. I wish him lots of luck with his new job - will he be teaching in high school?

What is your dvd challenge about, is it a personal one?

Thanks guys for checking. It's been a whirlwind of a weekend, but luckily things have worked out. Tim came home from the hospital today. I am almost caught up on my laundry and got the grocery shopping done ($200+!!!). Will be heading out to get the kids from my brother. I did get the exercise in today, and treated yesterday as my rest day.

Yes, Sweatpea, he will be teaching high school. He has been a mechanic for almost 25 years and this is the opportunity of a life time- to teach high school kids the basics of the trade, the exact same way he himself got started. The school is only 20 minutes away, and he will have summers, more holidays and snow days off . . AWESOME! He will have to take some college courses tho, but if he passes them with a B or better, they will reimburse him.

The challenge is my own personal challenge. I bought a DVD program called Rockin' Bodies that came with a full months work-out schedule. I having a blast doing it- for some of the workouts I ALMOST look like I know what I's doing LOL. I have weigh in tomorrow. I fear it will be little or no loss, based on the peeks I stole this week. I haven't been cheating and eating healthy and in appropriate portions. I expect to see some changes in my measurements tho, no matter what the scale says from all the workout stuff.

Breakfast: cheerios, 1% milk
Snack: 3 chocoloate mini's
Lunch: slim a bear (not the best option, i Know)
Snack: banana, carrot
Dinner: lean steak, small baked potatoe with reduced fat sour cream, peas & carrots

Well congrats to your hubby!

And the rockin' bodies sounds like fun.

Good luck with your weigh in.

Glad to hear Tim is okay and home from the hospital. I hope his new job goes well. It sounds like a great opportunity. So he'll get all the school health ins benefits, too then? If they are anything like my husband's, they are fantastic, so that's always a nice thing for the family. :)

Nice job keeping up with the exercise and eating well despite the recent curveballs thrown your way. :hug2:

A pleaseant surprise at weigh in: 174.2lbs. That's a total loss of over 6lbs since 7/28/08. I have retrained my brain to not think of the scale as being the #1 thing to depend on to track success. I know that no matter what the scale read, I have done everything right this week (and the past few weeks) by eating healthy foods and in healthy portions, drinking water and exercising. It's nice to see that the scale decided this week to reflect that hard work, but I'm more focused on the future, focused on how I will look, feel, and how I feel about myself come Christmas.

Got to sleep in a little today . . . ahhhh. Out of bed @9 30am and had a little breakfast before I did my workout. I'm still motivated but not at the frenzied level I was when I started this. I think I am at the point now where I am creating this workout as a habit/routine, which is a good thing. The schedule is a 28 day stint, but I want to mark 30 days to update my progress. I will either start the prgram again on day 29, or workout on the nordic track instead.

THis weekend I am heading to Connecticut to visit my parents best friends who are hosting an annual party that my folks always attended. This year will serve as a tribute to both my parents, and another loved who died last year. I will do my workout as usual on friday, but will be on the road saturday and then attend the party. So i will treat Saturday as my rest day and plan to get a workout in on Sunday at the hotel gym.

Was woken up early for a booty call but luckily, still had time to do my "legitimate" dvd workout- I won't even count the bonus calories burned. :smilielol5: Beginning next week, I'll be back to work full time until the boss decides to put an add in the paper for another partime help. I don't mind really as I need to save money for a new car and other expenses.

Completing the DVD's is my mini challenge:
21 days complete, 7 to go

Breakfast: frosted miniwheats, milk, banana
Snack: LF yogurt/granola, popsicle
Lunch: turkey & cheese on whole wheat, cantelope, salad
Snack: pretzel chips, low fat ice cream
Dinner: homemade spaghetti, made with 93% lean beef, on whole wheat pasta

update 4pm: battling some cravings today. I may stop and get a LF ice cream on the way home, as I have the "points" to spare for just such an occasion. I don't want to deny myself and then go overboard later.
update 8pm: did stop and get that icecream, and I don't feel guilty about it. I was feeling guilty for not taking the dog for a walk in weeks, so I just got back after a 1.5 mile stroll with him.

A pretty good day today so far. Woke up and did my workout ate a good breakfast and off to work. Today is my eldest daughter's last day at daycare, and I think they are planning a little special something. She is a mature 12 1/2 yr old and will be taking the bus to/from school, but only be home less than an hour alone in the afternoons.

I seem to have a lot more energy today. I'm singing and re-enacting some of my workout moves, goofin off at work. Hope it lasts a few more hours when I am home getting the house clean.
