Well I decided to pick up my first juice today! I am pretty excited about it, I just juiced my first apple, it made about a 1/4 cup of juice.

Why did I get a juicer? Well I started to change my life 5 weeks ago. No processed foods, fast food, junk food, etc. I love fruit, whole grains, lean meats but I HATE HATE HATE veggies haha. I haven't eaten a veggie in over 10 years. Despite having lost almost 30 pounds thus far, I know my body is crying out for the nutrients that only veggies can give me.

I WILL NOT be doing a juice diet. I will still eat subway everyday for lunch but I will be replacing one meal a day with a juice. To try and combat my hatred for veggies, I will combine them with apples, grapes, strawberries, etc. to start incorporating those types of foods into my diet and to be honest...it's not a diet anymore...it's how I choose to live.

I would love to get yall opinion on juicing and any who have incorporated it into their lifestyle. And as I said before I am still eating healthy solid foods but in an effort to get veggies inside of me I will be juicing once or twice a day :)

What do yall think? Any juicers out there? Good recipes? Only bad thing for me is I am deathly allergic to about 95% of fruit. Apples, strawberries, grapes are the only ones I am allowed to eat. It may sound boring but I have learned to live with it. Here's to getting what my body needs and living longer for doing so!

We don't juice but that's more becuase it doesn't really fit into our lives at the moment and I manage to 'hide' veggies in our foods or have found recipies that my family likes for the veggies. I think as long as you are eating other foods and not doing the juice diets - you should be ok. Is the fiber included in the juice or is it stripped away? (just curious as I really don't know!) We do make smoothies at our house in the summer time (water melon, banana, mango and carrots) so I think that is a great supplement to your regular diet! Post again with some recipies when you find good ones and I will try to adapt them to my blender! :)

With the reading I have done, the fiber is stripped away but you get many many more of the nutrients. Some soft fruit probably doesn't require juicing b/c you can actually digest it but more fiberious fruit and veggies to my knowledge are indigestible or extremely hard to digest thus not giving us the most nutrition possible. It is a trade off in some cases but I personally believe the benefits out way to cons.

I dont juice at all. Most of the fruits out there are pure weight gaining sugar, but I usually eat 3 green apples and 3 pears a week for fiber. I dont see myself juicing veggies since I would rather eat them because the fiber stays intact.

For me it's about getting the nutrition, I know for a fact I won't eat them so I will have to drink them, it's better than doing nothing.

As far as fruits go, I don't think eating a sizeable amount of fruit everyday will cause you to gain weight, atleast fruit with one meal maybe two. Perhaps when one gets down to the niddy gritty losing that lst 5 pounds but not someone like me...who needs to lose 120 pounds. My goal is to juice 2 apples, strawberries, a veg every night (around 6 pm after my work out).

I don't think it will cause me to gain weight..but I am not an expert.

One subway a day for lunch is going to be pretty pricey. You can buy the ingredients and make it yourself for much cheaper. I've started a body transformation plan 2 months ago. I drink an all natural shake (no chemicals, no preservatives, no gluten) my friend introduced to me. I absolutely love it and i'm feeling great. I've lost 15 lbs already. I recently bought a juicer and i'm in love with it. I choose not to DIEt. I choose to live a healthy lifestyle with gradual changes and that's how we achieve and maintain our ideal weight.

Juice recipes: cucumber and apple, carrots, carrots and apples- vege juice surprised me so much. The natural sugar is so delicious. Aspertame and artificial sweetners make you crave more and gain more weight.

Ya I am about to start doing that haha. I keep forgetting to get some brown paper bags for my lunch here so I end up gonig to subway...making a note right now! I am lucky that I have no debt and a good job so even if it is pricey it doesn't effect me to awful much. Everyone I have talked to about Juiceing look at me like it's some...weird, new wave, hippy, I think that's not a great idea sorta thing. I don't get it, you get more nutrients.. how is this a bad thing.

Now I will need to do research on what veggies are the best for me. Carrots got alot of sugar I am told, spinach is good...need to educate myself!

Just got a juicer and made my first juice last night: carrots, apples, celery and ginger root - delicious! It's like magic - you feed big chunky vegetables and fruit into the hopper and beautiful jewel-colored juice comes flowing out the spigot!

I got a juicer for about the same reasons you did, Radioactive. I don't exactly HATE vegetables, but I have trouble eating as much vegies as I think I should. I like vegetables fine - cooked in a stew with lots of meat, or smothered in cheese sauce, or fried in tempura batter. But I'm not a big fan of raw vegetables, or salad with no dressing. Juicing seems like a way to get more vegetable nutrients without the saturated fat.

I'd like to lose some weight, but my biggest concern at the moment is health. I'm hoping that cutting back on saturated fats and increasing vegie micronutrients will help with my chronic muscle pain. My plan is something like yours. Not a full juice fast, but using vegie/fruit juices as snacks, or possibly for one meal a day. Originally I was thinking I might follow the plant-based "Reboot Express" diet for a week, but decided it's too radical for me. The plan I was looking at wasn't all juice, but it didn't allow nuts, beans, tofu or whole grains! I'm not willing to go that far - I need some protein in my breakfast. But I did decide to go vegan for 5 days and then start adding back animal protein gradually.

So, are you still juicing? Tell me about the wonderful new recipes you've tried! Have you noticed any difference in the way you feel?
