Would like to introduce myself, here goes!

Hello everyone!

Well I'll just get straight to the point. My name is Yves (pronounced E-ves), female aged 23, I used to weigh 390 pounds on a 5'7" frame from the age of 18 until 20. Yes, I was morbidly obese. I was very overweight at a very young age of 10 years old and 150 pounds and the weight just kept piling on.

3 years ago I moved to the Philippines for college. In those 3 years I was able to lose 234 pounds. I now weigh 156. So this is why I'm here, because instead of being completely happy with my weight loss, I am now facing another problem. Losing all that weight caused me to be really saggy! I lost the weight naturally, no pills no surgery, just pure will and perseverance.

Although I feel extremely accomplished, I am not happy with my looks and quite frankly I hate my saggy body. So I'm here for advice on physical fitness, and how to tone and firm up. Sorry for the long intro. Glad to be here! Looking forward to be a regular member.

Thank you!

Welcome to the forums. There is a lot of good information and helpful people here who can hopefully help you out answering your questions.

Hi and welcome to the sight.

Congratulations!!! on your weight loss.

I’m curious do you think moving to the Philippines had anything to do with assisting your weight loss? When I had visited the country I found it real easy to eat clean whole food. There wasn’t as much convenience as in the states. Though, I did find lots of things I like to eat, none of it was processed or packaged. I was inclined to eat less due to the heat as well.

I did get to McDonalds once, armed guards with shotguns, too cool.

welcome to the forum

Thank you for the warm welcome.

Reading your replies made me smile because I love being reminded that I have a new life now. A happier and healthier one. Sometimes when I'm thinking too much about how I hate my physical appearance I often forget about this, so it's nice being reminded once in a while. I am finally living.

JohnnySolo, to answer your question. I most definitely think Philippines was a major part of my losing weight. When I came here, I had relatives cook for me, which meant rarely eating out. And the things they cooked were mostly fresh vegetables. Although I was never a big fan of vegetables, I grew to actually LOVE them. My diet consisted of complex, instead of refined carbs, protein, and healthy natural fats from meat and fish. I lived in a province, no city life. The closest fast food restaurant was a town over and I hated to go out because I was so conscious. For one thing Filipinos are fairly small framed people. I am Filipina myself but I was huge and people stared and gossiped which made me feel uncomfortable, so I almost never went out.

And yes the climate and surroundings made a difference in my personal habits also. When it was hot I didn't feel like eating much, and I drank tons of water. But one thing I noticed is that I never really exercised in my first year in the province but I was able to lose more than 100 pounds just by changing my eating habits. After moving to Metro Manila, which is the main city of the Phil, that's when I became more aware of needing to exercise more. But another thing helped me, which were the huge malls. Philippines has some of the biggest malls in the world. And I love to shop. This meant walking around for hours without noticing it. Even if I don't buy anything, just looking around was enough, and I loved to spend my time in the air-conditioned place. Although there were plenty of times I would slip into temptation because of the abundant food shops and stalls, I still lost weight because I always kept moving!

Eventually when I came down to 230 pounds I joined a gym and ate healthier. I don't like to call it dieting because for me, I still ate a lot. But I ate healthier, more natural food and less of the processed kinds.

Again I want to thank you all for the welcome. I'll be here more often!

Well we are glad to have you. The more successes here, like you, the better. You can teach us a lot, you have gone through a lot.

lol, I know what you mean about the local curiosity. People would point me out to their kids because I was something new. There isn’t a whole lot of 6’2” burly guys walking around there.

The family I went with for vacation are Pilipino, I should join them again next time they go, I enjoyed it there.
