Would-be loser from London

Its not lovely here in Rochester, NY...its downright, cold gray and ugly!!:cuss:

Saint Jilly - My heart goes out to you. My mum is not a bad person. She's a decent and kindhearted but undemonstrative woman who always been convinced she knows best. She was also naturally slim, very young, and in sole charge of a child during the sixties - when the most desirable shape was epitomised by Twiggy. I think the important thing is that we are the ones who are in charge of our meals now, and we have the freedom to decide whether we want to be controlled in a perverse way by a well-meaning but misguided parent, our by ourselves.
I really hope you can crack this, Jilly. I hope I can, too. To be honest, I sometimes think I've left it too late; but why should my kids and husband suffer because my mum was too young to parent wisely? They deserve better really, and so do I. :)

Jillzy - hello again! I left you a little message in my diary. ;) Thanks for visiting me there!

You certainly havent left it too late!

London was lovely weather today - I went out walking this afternoon without a jacket!

Another here from warm and sunny London. :)

I'm with you Popcorn in avoiding any of the restrictive "diets". Not having intentionally lost weight before it was all new to me and being told what I should eat every day didn't sound my way of having fun.

Instead I found the website with lots of useful booklets and CDs packed with info they'll post to you free or can be read in PDF format . I started following roughly what they suggested three months ago and it's been pretty painless so far. :)

Noooo you've not left it too late...its never too late...I'm coming up 56...granted its harder as you get older..but far from impossible.!!

granted its harder as you get older..
Nah, the older you are the easier it gets. Get to my age and you can't remember where you put the cream cakes, your hands are too unsteady to find your mouth, and most of what you get there dribbles down your chin. ;)

Hows it going Popcorn?? I've been pretty good so far this week..doing some gardening..been for walks & swimming tomorrow!

Hello SaintJilly,
All's going well with me. We've just had half term and despite cooked breakfasts, pasties and a cream tea (we were in Devon), I managed to get in quite a lot of walking, so I came back four pounds lighter. I'm still not quite sure how I pulled that off, but I'm not complaining! I'm not expecting to lose masses this week - I'll settle for anything.
How about you? Have you been careful this week, or not?
