World's Strongest Man

Anyone else watch World's Strongest Man? I know it's not realistic, and what with no steroid testing policy probably they're not the best role models, but as a fat weightlifter guy myself I find it extremely motivational. I'll never be what the average person would call fit, or even not fat, but after four point five years of serious weight lifting, I could probably bench press that person, and they would never know that I could do that just by looking at me. This kind of stuff is much more realistic to me than stuff like Cross Fit or the Biggest Loser morons, gives me a weird ideal to live up to, these guys that value the strength of their muscles over their appearance.

Archer.

Have you read about different body types? They're known as Somatotypes. Here's a graphic illustration

A simple example would be that if you have a physique like Brock Lesnar then you cannot expect to turn that into a physique like that of Randy Orton.

Hope that helps

So, these guys are all endomorphs, then? Squat(even at 6'8'', some of them, somehow), wide, muscular, and not cut, with the abs and stuff. Makes sense. Also there's the racial component, in that most of these guys are of northern European descent(The Baltic States, Scandinavia, Russia, England, or American along those same genetic lines). Something about their heritage must control how easy it is for them to pack on muscle. I'm of mostly North German/English heritage, and I've found it is easy for me to add muscle, very difficult to cut fat, so I've tended toward having as my goal an increase in strength and muscle size and power rather than worrying about just cutting fat and looking better(which I'm guessing is the goal of like 98% of the people trying to lose weight). Building my power from the inside out and letting the question of fat and appearance kind of take care of itself.

I tend to look at it in terms of survival. If there was an apocalypse, and I was suddenly dropped out in the woods, I'd want strength and a good reserve of fat to get me through the first winter, and help me cut down trees to build a cabin, and fight off bears and cannibal gangs and whatnot. Also in that situation I'd think the surviving women would tend to go toward stout, strong men with good axe and hunting skills, and shy away from the weakling pretty boys(if they've managed to survive).

That is a wonderful fantasy mate :D

I actually wrote a novel where this kind of a scenario takes place. I figure an apocalypse where only the people with the fundamental skills of life survive, and things like thinking, working hard, honesty and real deep quality acquired through decades of suffering(as opposed to surface virtues like looks and status symbols) are valued again, is the best chance I have of actually getting a girlfriend. I guy can dream, you know.
