Workout Clothes

This a little bit of rant and a little bit of a seeing what someone else might suggest.

I swear every where I look (granted I live in a podunk town) all the workout clothes are for teeny tiny girls. It's so frustrating. I guess they think that only tiny people work out. The size small looks like it should fit on a Barbie. :puke:

I have two or three outfits that I can wear for working out and I'm bored with them, yet I don't want to spend much on more since I will soon shrink out of them. ;) :D Any ideas or suggestion for someplace (maybe online?) that has relatively inexpensive (read: cheap) workout wear?

I think when I finally get 'tiny' I'm buying one of those tiny workout outfits!:jump::rotflmao:

what size are you currently?

If you've got a marshalls/tj maxx in your area - check there... they have brand name stuff fairly inexpensive.

Target is also a good resource...

I'm about an 18/20.(smaller size than I was!) I have none of those stores in my immediate area...podunk...:biggrinjester:

Have you tried Walmart or Kmart?

You can order from Target and stuff on line too.

These stores have larger sizes, I am/was a 16, and I found inexpensive bike shorts.

Just got back from Kame-apart, tiny clothes. I've looked at Wal-Mart in the past. I will have to look again, but the last time I looked an XL was a size 14 and it didn't look like any XL I've ever seen.

I'll look at Target online and see what I can find. I appreciate the help.

Just part of the fun of being a 'large-sized girl'

it could depend on where you live. Here you can find 16/18/20 in the store. But NY is a 'big' state.

Target carries the Champion line of workout clothes and the XL is like a 16/18 but it runs large... Nike's workout clothes an XL is also a 16/18 and runs fairly true to size - Reebok also runs in similar sizes but I've found they run a little smallish...

Target also has a plus size department that carries 1x - 3x...

Since I do my work out from home, I don't have to worry so much what I look like- its more about comfort for me.

I finally found some bras that fit me at KOHL'S. I am a 38DD and need breathable support, which I found there. Other than that, my outfit usually consists of shorts with some sort of spandex in them/to keep my thighs from rubbing, and a t-shirt.

I have priced some of the work out outfits, but would rather spend my money on the bra's, which are really necessary.

sounds like an excuse to not exercise to me :p

I thought all fat people wore trackies and a t-shirt! lol i know i sure used to wear them a lot to workout in when i started. I prefered the thin ones from kmart with draw strings so i got maximum cooling and they fit whilst i lost (love dem draw strings!)

Now i can wear those cutesy small short things if i want, though to be honest they ride up and i get thigh chafing so i dont bother, i still wear the cheap trackies

Hey there, I cut off my old sweats into sexy short shorts to work out in. I also cut the arms off long t-shirts too. It makes the perfect work out gear. when I am down 3 sizes I will treat myself to some new gear.

Maybe this can work for you!!!!

Hmmm, nope I work out 6-7 days a week in my 'boring' workout clothes. ;):D

Actually I do like what I wear, just wish I had more of it....variety and not wanting them to be too 'ripe' by the end of the week.
They don't have what I have anymore. I have some yoga pants that I LOVE. So dang comfortable for everything and another pair of Capri's that are made of the same type of material. Also some comfy, colorful t-shirts.

Hi Cindy, Sounds like some good ideas. I'll have to look through my 'too big for me now' :D t-shirts and see what might work. Don't think anyone is ready for me in sexy short shorts...:eek:

I workout in my old eleastic waist "fat" gym shorts and an old XXXL t-shirt. It helps to remind me how far I've come and to keep going when I want to stop one set short. It's a great motivator, that I couldn't care less about being fashionable when I'm working out helps :).

Oo thats a great idea, i can never find shorts i like!

I hit the gym in a ripped-up 6 year old rugby shirt and an even rattier old pair of stretchy oversized board shorts. Both are literally riddled with holes, and covered with half-faded blood, mud and sweat stains. And no shoes. Well, until they made me start wearing them for "hygienic and safety" reasons. Fascists.

What is "fashion". :D

Did I mention I only wash said gear once a week? Hahaha.

eww thats just gross, not cool :O

Lucky you dont cycle, if you dont wash the gear after every single ride you will very soon know ALL about it between your legs. Even with a good antibacterial pad, cream, and regular washing you still have to replace shorts often otherwise the sweat rashes are aweful.

I do all my cycling on one or the other of a pair of Schwinns. The kind you plug in. I do quite a lot of it before I feel like I need to wash my grungy old shorts. For example, I'll be averaging roughly 55 miles and 3 hours a day for a while, here, at least until I burn off all this "new nutrition" energy (as I like to call it), and I'll still only be washing those shorts once a week, haha. They're swim trunks, though, so they don't really absorb much. Seems to just go right through and get wiped off when I spray the thing down.

Though there's nobody around when I use the bike (be it at the office or at home), I'm actually quite obsessive about how I smell. Fortunately, I can sweat buckets and not really work up much of a stink at all. I use lysol as a deodorant, applied after each of two daily showers. No jokes, it works great. :D

How do you mean, sweat rashes? From thigh chafing? Not sure I really want to know, but I'm confused, because I don't get any of that. Though I do realize that there's a big difference between real cycling and pretend cycling. Maybe I don't work as intensely as you do? My thighs don't touch when I cycle... Also, I wear a base layer of undearmour. When I'm alone, it's often just that, cause I overheat so bloody easily.

As for my gym apparel, well, I figure if anyone at the gym is even paying attention to what I'm wearing, they need more... focus. :coolgleamA: Yeah, I'm obnoxious.
