Working my way to a Suzuki

This is my first entry to a smaller me. My buddy just got a Honda sports bike. He needs a riding partner and wants me to be it. I told I would have to lose a hundred pounds before I would even entertain the idea of getting a bike. That is not the only reason I want to lose the weight. I work outside as a line tech for AT&T. The summers here in Houston are brutal. I am afraid something may happen to me if I do not get serious and lose the weight.

I have a bowl of Special K and a bagel. I am using skim milk and fat free cream cheese. I then have carrots or grapes in between breakfast and lunch. For lunch I have an oven baked chicken breast. Sometimes I have a fat free yogurt in between lunch and dinner. For dinner I have some kind of meat like pork, chicken or fish. Sometimes i have some red meat. I drink 4 or 5 bottles of water during the day. I also have tea during the evenings. I am not sure if this is the best for me but I know its better than eating fast food for breakfast, lunch, and most of the time dinner. I also snacked a lot in the past. I have since stop doing that.

Height 5'11
Weight 306lbs was 312lbs when I started a couple weeks ago.

WOOHOO another rider [well future rider] I ride a Kawasaki ZX6R. My BF has the GSXR1000.

Congrats on wanting to lose weight! Keep up the great work!

July 3, 2008.

Well I probably had a bad day today. I was off today and started cleaning my house. Well I did not eat anything until 215pm. So I did not eat breakfast. I had sliced turkey for lunch with a tea. For dinner I had some oven baked pork and mixed steamed veggies. (carrots, corn, peas, and green beans) I ate dinner at around 8:30pm. I had the munchies tonight so I had two 100 calorie sugar free pudding cups. I worked out my legs tonight and rode my exercise bike.

This is a unique goal, working toward a sports bike. What an amazing motivator. You're making healthy lifestyle changes, which essentially is the most crucial element in not only losing the weight but keeping it off. Just keep going, the results will come even if at times progress seems slow.

July 4

I volunteered to work the fourth so breakfast and lunch went as usual. I had made plans to go hang out with m buddy. I was a little worried because in the past when I made plans and was changing to lose weight I would not stick to me plan. Well I am glad to report to myself that I did my workout and rode my bike before going out. We went to Saltgrass steakhouse for dinner. I stayed away from the bread. Yea me LOL. I only had tea the whole night. Which is amazing for me since we went to a pub after dinner. The bartender joked with me a little about ordering tea at a pub. But I am a good sport so no harm done. All in all I think I stayed on my program for the most part. Monday is my weight in day. I am hoping to see a downward slide. LOL

Good for you for handling yourself so well when you went out! That is my weakness, anytime i go out to a restaurant I have the best intentions but somehow it never works out like I planned lol.

Oh I know what you mean. Last weekend I was not good at saying no. Four big beers and apple pie with ice cream. It actually made me mad at myself for not being stronger mentally. I told myself that it was not going to happen this time. It also helps to have a friend that understands and is supportive.

July 5

Breakfast: bowl of Special K with 2% milk. Half of a blueberry bagel.
Inbetween Snack: 100 cal. fat free yogurt
Lunch: Lemon pepper pork
Inbetween Snack: 100 cal. fat free yogurt
Dinner: Turkey Italian sausage, and spaghetti sauce.

I went shopping today and bought some turkey italian sausage. It has almost half of the fat as regular Italian sausage. Of course it has about half of the taste too LOL. So I added some basil to it while I was cooking the sausage. For the sauce I get one of the bottled sauces but add more to them. For example I add mushrooms, black olives, and different types of tomatoes. The tomatoes are the canned type like stew and diced tomatoes. I looked at the label and I may have to scale back on them too much sodium. I know why not just use raw tomatoes? I am weird I guess. I do not like raw tomatoes. If they are from a can no problem but raw ones yuck.

July 6
I have picked Monday as my official weigh-in day. I could not wait so I stepped on the scale this morning and I liked what I saw. But you have to wait until tomorrow to find out the magic number.

July 7

Weigh-in Day

Stepped on the scale and 300.2 popped up on the the screen. I am very pleased with this since I have only been working on this for three weeks.

haha never heard of someone trying to lose weight to ride a bike... it is always really easy to catch the one big guy on a bike... I road a 1L bike when I was close to 300lbs. Well best of luck to you!

I do not want to look like the two fat guys on mopeds that used to be on the back cover of the world record books. Plus this will be my first bike so I am getting a 600 the liter bikes are crazy fast too much power for a newbie.

I used to have a R1, was fun but dangerous. Now I have a cruiser and I love it, Yamaha 07 V-star 1100 custom.

Well I stepped on the scale and have broken the 300lb barrier. I am down to 297. I did not drop as much as I did in the previous week. I think this is due to buying low fat cheese and lunch meat. I was making sandwiches late at night. So I have run out of the lunch meat and cheese so we will see. I also did not ride my bike every morning and evening like I was doing but I will get back to doing that this week.

Great job on breaking 300! That feels sooooo good to see that first number change.:hurray:
I'm sure you will get your routine worked out. It takes a while for the new habits to form. You are doing great, keep up the good work.

July 21 weigh in day

Well stepped on the scale this morning and lost another 4lbs for the week. One more and i will have lost 20lbs. I have done good in the workout department this week. I have increased weight in almost all of my exercises. I have also increased resistance on my exercise bike. I have stuck to my new eating habits also. The only problem i have is since I am single and I work anywhere from 9 to 12 hour days I am staying up later to get things done around the house. this is causing me to over sleep some mornings and I can not get my bike ride in. I will have to work on this.

So a cool thing happen today at work. A coworker told me she could tell I am losing weight by looking at my face. That made me feel great. Also it maybe time to go buy some new pants. The ones that I wear now are getting to be too big. Also I just bought some 3XL shirts and they feel huge on me. I am ok with having to buy new clothes as long as they are smaller lol.

The second number changes. I stepped onto the scale and weighed in at 288. That is another 5lbs in a week. I also think i heard my scale let out a "thank you". lol

Well this past week I stuck to my routine except for yesterday. I did not eat anything for breakfast and I did not prepare a lunch to take with me to work. So I skipped breakfast and stopped at a Subway for lunch. It amazes me that the people at Subway do not understand "just a little amount of honey mustard" the girl behind the counter just about drowned my sandwich in the stuff. I get the honey mustard because it supposedly is "fat free". I guess if you wanted it done right you have to do it yourself.

Oh one more thing in the work out area. I may start looking into gym memberships here in the next couple of months. There are a couple of muscle groups i want to target that would be easier at a gym.

Great job you've done so far!

I work much harder at the gym then when I work out at home. If you can afford it, it's a great investment!

Keep up the good work!

Well its been two weeks since the last time I posted and its been a roller coaster of a ride. The week of July 28-Aug 2 I blew my diet out of the water. Mainly it was the Wednesday and Friday that did it. I went out drinking both nights and Friday night I ate late like 1:30 am late. So that week I gained 4lbs. One highlight of that week was I did join a gym. I also sign up for 6 personal trainer sessions.

So last week was my first session. I had to set them up for early i the morning due to my work schedule. The first session was targeting my legs. Well i the middle of doing some seated leg press sets I got a killer headache. I gutted through it. Well the next session that week we did back muscles. Once again in the middle of one of my sets I got another headache. So the trainer suggested that i go see a doctor since it has been over 5 years since i had seen one. Well I went to one and i have high blood pressure. I also get to see a neurologist this Tuesday. The doctor told me no more weightlifting until after i met with the neurologist. So that sucks.
On a positive note I did drop from 292 to 285 last week.
