Working ABS every day??

I've heard from a couple people that it's ok to work your abs everyday and that they don't need time to recover like the rest of your muscles. I'll admit i know very little about abs and was just wondering if anyone knew this to be true or false. Please give a reason behind either or. Thanks everyone!!
 
Hi! I am definitely not any kind of pro in this field, but I do work my abs daily using my stability ball. I do crunches and pikes. I also lie on my back and do leg lifts. I do my workouts 5-7 x per week, and definitely have the beginnings of a 6 pack (maybe a 3 pack? ;)).

As for whether or not your abs need a break, I can tell you that when I first started using my ball, I was totally useless at it and routinely fell right off when trying to do pikes! And yes, I felt it. It hurt like the :reddevil: for the first little while.

I do direct core work 2-4 times per week, which usually consists of stability and anti-rotation work. Rarely do I do standard crunches.
 
thanks peeps. I've decided to stay with my 2 day ab workout. tuesday and friday. I did some research and i found 2 opionions on this.

1. the first said that abs are just like any other muscle and need recovery time.
2. the second said that the abs have more viens and cappalaries so the recovery time is decreased and therefore experienced ab workers can work there abs every day.

Personally i find it hard to beleive that your abs don't need at least a days rest.

With my wieght situation right now i think that 2 days a week is fine. The most important part is to loose this fat around my gut so i can see my abs. I already have a 6 pack, everyone does. It's just hidden under my fat. SO until i lose all that fat and get to around 10% body fat i'm not gonna worry about it too much.
 
All muscles need recovery. It's just all muscles don't need the same recovery. It depends on various factors such as specific muscle, loads lifted, frequency of training, nutrition, etc, etc.
