Work Out Songs?

The entire album "With Love And Squalor" by We Are Scientists. It has perfect workout pacing the whole way through, even allowing some interval moments during some choruses. Check it out.

Here is my current playlist, and it is an hour and minute long (to be exact). It peaks late, when I want to quit the most. So I put a very fast song to motivate myself into the cool down. Thrash metal will get you to move!

1) Type O Negative - Black # 1
2) Tool - Prison Sex
3) Alice in Chains - Grind
4) Rammstein - Du Hast
5) Orgy - Blue Monday
6) GLAY - Mermaid
7) Gackt - Speed Master
8) Metallica - Master of Puppets
9) Marilyn Manson - The Beautiful People
10) Led Zeppelin - Immigrant Song
11) Metallica – Loverman

My song selections are so random. I have two Japanese Rock songs (by Gackt and GLAY). Master of Puppets is the peak. I just keep trudging on with the beat. I imagine as I jog that I am trying to sever myself from the master that is fat. It is such a relief when the song is finished because I know I am near the end. When it gets to The Immigrant Song I am feeling rather giddy and it has a perfect, springing beat to accompany the feeling. Black #1 and Loverman are both long songs, so they are perfect for my warm up and cool down laps of walking.

In the end, you just have to do what works for you. Sometimes when I want a change I will crack out the Daft Punk.

I don't know if anybody already mentioned some of these songs, but here are a few of my absolute favorites when I'm at the gym (which isn't all that frequently right now... haha... I've got to work on that!):

"Harder Better Faster Stronger" - Daft Punk
"Ready Fuels" - Anberlin
"Watch Us Work It" - Devo
"The Middle" and "Pain" - Jimmy Eat World
"TKO" - Le Tigre
"Hysteria" - Muse
"Only" - Nine Inch Nails
"Go With The Flow" - Queens of the Stone Age
"Wolf Like Me" - TV On The Radio
"Get Free" - The Vines
and for cooldown:
"Island in the Sun" - Weezer

I listen to everything, specifically rock/80s/hip hop/dance&electronica when working out. I usually only listen to music when I'm lifting, though. When running, I like just hearing the sound of my breath and nature (I usually run trails) or watching TV if I'm on the treadmill.
Recently, and as ODD as it sounds, I've actually started listening to some reggae when lifting. It just puts me in such a happy place!! :hurray:

Here are as many good workout songs as I can come up with off the top of my head:
Bone Thugs n Harmony - Notorious thugs (feat Biggie) - I LOVE THIS SONG... it's a staple EVERY time I work out. :)
Talib Kweli - Get by
Damian Marley - Welcome to Jamrock
The Roots - The Seed 2.0
Flo-Rida - Low
Timbaland/Keri Hilson - The way I are
Earshot - Wait
Xzibit - Get your walk on
Queens of the Stone Age - 3's and 7's
Common - This is music
Outkast - Jazzy Belle
Outkast - Atliens
Crossfade - Cold
Damian Marley - Catch a Fire
Scorpions - Rock you like a hurricane
Scorpions - No one like you
Closer - Lacuna Coil
Slipknot - Before I forget
Tribe called quest - Can I kick it?
Foghat - Slow ride
Kanye - Jesus walks
Papa Roach - Forever
Ratatat - Get 'em high
Type O Negative - Christian Woman
Zion I - Trippin'
Li'l Wayne - Lollipop
Bob Marley - One Love
Black Sabbath - Paranoid
Killswitch Engage - pretty much anything by them is fine
Stereo MCs - Connected
ACDC - Hell's Belles
Axwell - Watch the sunrise
Sponge - Plowed
Bob Marley - Stir it up
Cascada - Every time we touch
Eric Clapton - Layla
Beats International - Dub be good to me
Justin Timberlake - Chop me up (feat Timbaland and Three Six Mafia)
Bon Jovi - Run away
Mute Math - Chaos
Dragonforce - Through the fire and flames
Lupe Fiasco - Superstar

Okay, that's it for now. :p Sorry for the long list!

So many listed so far, one that usually gets me motivated are In the End/Linkin Park, Stronger/Kanye West.. and my new favorite cd is Blake Lewis, tons of tracks to get my ass in gear.

Best workout songs:

I have recently been putting together a "workout" playlist on my iPod and I thought it would be fun to get a few other's FAVORITE "workout" song. I think the secret to a good workout starts with music. ;)

My genre will probably differ from most, but my #1 workout song is a 3-way tie (I know... BORING) If I had to rank them, they would be as follows:

Till I collapse - Eminem
Welcome Home - Coheed and Cambria
I'm Shipping Up To Boston - Dropkick Murphy's

I am willing to add a new #1 and I am openminded.

Humble me. :D

I like to run to the Squirell Nut Zippers and the Cherry Poppin' Daddy's. - I throw some of their songs throughout my playlist cause they kinda perk me back up when I start to lag.. I always imagine that I'm swinging instead of running... Luckily I haven't swung myself off the treadmill yet. ;) hehe.

I could use some new stuff too though.. :)

KUDOS!! Welcome Home is a great work out song!!!

I tend to listen to a lot of MushroomHead, Staind, Static-X and Pantera when I work out.

Cowboys from Hell from Pantera would have to be one of my Fav. workout albums...as well as Dysfunction from Staind

It is funny that you mention that. When I run on the treadmill, I listen to music... but herein lies the problem. I'm not sure why I do it, but my footsteps will begin to match the beat of the song that I am listening to. The fast songs have me running off the front of the treadmill and the slow ones have me falling off the back... which luckily I have not done yet either.

I will have to look up the Squirell Nut Zippers and the Cherry Poppin' Daddy's. Their names' certainly sound upbeat. :D

lol yeah I do the same thing! I try to have slower stuff in the begenning and end but I like to run to Metalica, G & R, Stevie Ray Vaughn... anything to keep me going. Otherwise, forget it.. :)

Another fun band to listen to is Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. They are a punk band that covers a lot of popular songs. If you are on iTunes check out their album Have A Ball. It's very upbeat to listen too. Trust me on this.

I've scoured the internet for those types of songs! It might sound "silly" but, I love the 90's club hits for when I'm trying to exercise. (La Bouche, Amber, C+C Music Factory, Right Said Fred, The Funky Bunch) Also, SKA really gets me going- Rx Bandits especially (Letters To Cleo, No Doubt, Less Than Jake) Things like that... I'm pretty eclectic in my music, hey I even like britney spears!!

Also I'm gonna agree with the above poster - me first and the gimme gimmes ROCK!

I love their version of the Eagles Desperado!!

Coheed and Cambria kick so much ass its sick..Claudio is a musical genius :)

My favourite work out songs are usually pretty hardcore...along the lines of 'Every Time I Die', 'Norma Jean', but my fav's are anything by 'Protest The Hero'..:willy_nilly:

I think aggression fuels me when Im working out, even though Im probably the least aggressive person I know :)

I like Torche's Meanderthal, Mastodon are good too.

It's weird because a lot of my favourite bands play slow drone doom, or experimental, or mid-tempo stuff and none of that's any good when in the gym.

Some day I hope to be able to stick on the song Dopesmoker by Sleep and start running and not stop until it's finished! Any Sleep fans'll know what I mean.
