Work Out Songs?

Hello Friends
Right now I'm listening to Destinys Child 8 days of Christmas, Bow wow Feat Chris Brown Shorty like mine...its so many Artists that I'm fond of...

Music

I think this has been discussed before, but I couldn't find any trace so forgive the new thread. :)

What music do ya all listen to when you are working out/excercising? I like to have something with a strong beat to listen to personally so the songs I listen to are mainly club-type songs, but there are the odd ones that motivate me for various personal reasons. :D

How about you guys? Are there any particular songs you find get you going, and if so why?

well there is nelly's "heart of a champion" its a great motivational song to keep going for the extra mile. also i like hard stuff like slipknot "before i forget" is a great one. also like dancehall music like sean paul. the beat goes with the running on treadmill at 5.7 mph.

it all depends my mood. sometimes i like to contemplate things and i listen to deep lyrics that cee lo has. sometime i like gangsta music to get my aggression out on. same with heavy rock. then sometimes i like the songs that are made for working out like nelly's. whatever it is i make sure to change out my songs to give me motivation to listen to them again on the treadmill

I exercise outside and general don't like to listen to anything but nature...but if I'm in the city I just put my mp3 player on random....could be anything from michael jackson's "beat it" to metallica.

daybyday-That's what I do too. I just got the new teeny tiny iPod shuffle for Christmas, hook it up to my iTunes library...let it fill...and then I'm totally surprised when I work out. It's pretty fun because I have quite a lot of songs in my library and there is a wide range of genres that pop up.

People always tell me that I listen to really weird music when I workout...it's anywhere from Peter Frampton and Tom Petty to Etta James or Aretha (for some reason her songs reallllly get me going on the treadmill!)

Queen and Supertramp are fun to work out to as well, mostly because the music keeps me so entertained that my mind is taken off the workout. Another One Bites the Dust...

haha I'm lame...I love it.

I just listen to the gym broadcast music. Even though my gym has full cardio TV theatre, I can't be bothered with headphones - I prefer to mix with people and chat. Well ... you did ask!

I like angry music, or at least stuff with competition-oriented lyrics, and no slow stuff at all. Has to be loud too. I work out so I can be faster in races, and beating people is my motivation, so I like my music to remind me of that conflict while I work out. I'm usually in severe pain while working out so unless I have something really aggressive, I just can't keep going. So, some things I like:

Godsmack - The Enemy (and others)
Metallica - Fuel
Disturbed (several)
Chevelle - Send the pain below
Cake - The Distance
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Can't Stop
Rage against the Machine (several)
Nine Inch Nails (Quake II game instrumental soundtrack)

I usually listen to audiobooks while working out, but sometimes I do my ipod on shuffle mode. A couple of weeks ago I was just about to give up for the day and the chocobo theme remix from Final Fantasy came on. For those of you who haven't played, a chocobo is a big riding bird that sometimes competes in races, so the music was perfect running music to get that last 3 minutes out of me.

It depends what kind of exercise I'm doing. I like listening to metal while doing cardio - I stay awake and pumped. If I'm doing someting light, like stretching, I listen to Jem and Sarah Mclachlan, maybe Beatles.

Exercise Music

Don't know if this is the place or if this has already been asked but I thought I would ask.

What is everyone's favorite music to listen to while walking/jogging/cycling - any kind of exercise?

I just put my ipod on shuffle and go! It could end up being anything from movie score and Josh Groban to John Mayer and Jack Johnson to Matchbox 20 and Carbon Leaf to Lincoln Park and Flogging Molly. I'm not a picky music person. :) And suprisingly enough, I've discovered that just because a song is slow doesn't mean its bad workout music. Once you learn to sub-divide in your head, it's actually some of the fastest you can move to!

i think it's awesome that you can listen to slower music and still kick it up. it's hard for me...i can do it, but i have to concentrate. i guess b/c when i hear dance music..i just wanna move, so it's an easier motivator for me. i like any kind of music that will kick it up. sometimes dance music with no words is better, so i won't get caught up in singing..i dunno..hehhehe

Dance/Techno music definitely. It has really high BPM (beats per minute) so it keeps you going throughout your workout.

In no particular order.
1. Pearl Jam
2. STP
3. Tom Petty
4. Black Crowes
5. Oasis
6. Beatles
7. Nirvana

shape magazine has a play list intheir magazine every month that has some good tunes. for different activities

- has at least one free music download a day as well as the same suggested lists.. it's kind of cool... i just noticed it int he magazine the other day

I prefer heavier rock music. I listen to it when i run on my treadmill and for some reason i wanna keep up with the fast paced music and i usually end up jogging faster without even noticing it.

I love running or being on the elliptical while listening to rock. Lots of Queen, Coheed and Cambria, Incubus, and Everclear. I also throw in some fast-paced dance music from Michael Jackson and Madonna.
