woohoooo! and so it begins...

It's about time for me! I've always been a bit heavier than my friends but not by a lot (until college). Since college I've gained a good 5 lbs each year and I have gotten myself up to 200 (and I am a 5'5" female). Last year I spent in Italy so I am sure that didn't help me very much. I have struggled with losing weight all my life (mainly I've never been able to lose more than 10 lbs, let alone keep it off). Ten days ago I started Phase 1 of the South Beach Diet and began exercising daily, and I have not weighed myself yet but I can definitely feel a difference already in my fitness level! And I am sure if you know anything about South Beach you can understand my cravings right now and why I may have picked this username. I would like (ideally) to stay away from a scale as much as possible but I will probably weigh myself biweekly. Otherwise I get too number-obsessed and can get easily discouraged. I am hoping that this time is it and I will finally be able to get to my goal weight of 140. I really hope to use this site as a big motivator and a sort of accountability for my weight loss, so let's see how it goes! Summer of '11 will hopefully change my life =)
