Wondering What Direction I should go.

Hi I have been here for a little while trying to figure out the best way to exercise and things of that nature. Anyway I am here because I am trying to research as to how to reach my goal.My goal is to get in shape for a cruise I will be going on towards the end of this upcming November. I already have a workout plan in tact. It is a pre made plan from bodybuilding.com, where I do an entire body workout Mon, Wed, and Fri. The thing is, is that I am pretty skinny to begin with, but I am looking to make most of my gains in muscle rather than fat. So basically I was wondering about how many sets I should do to attain this, as well as if cardio will hurt me or help me. I was also wondering at this pace, what is a reasonable goal for me to reach, I was hoping maybe 5 lbs a month, but am not sure if that is reasonable or not. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

there are many set/rep schemes that do well. chad waterbury has a good article called the "set/rep bible" that outlines these for different goals. 5x5, 4x6, 3x8, 6x4, etc on and on.

cardio is good for any time, but of course not "sweatin' to the oldies" type stuff. sprinting, biking, speed rope, heck even sled pulling, farmers walks, etc does a body good. :)

if you are on a pre made plan surly it includes sets?
anyways, if you want to bulk up, you need hypertrophy, which is 30-40 volume per muscle group and you do 6-8 reps per set or 8-12 (i have heard differently, i think that 6-8 gives hyp and str while 8-12 gives only hyp)

I personally like 5 x 5 routines when bulking. But the one thing to keep in mind when bulking is that your food ratios and caloric count is more important than what your set rep scheme is. Regardless of your routine you can not grow if your are not eating enough and eating clean.
