Wish I Found This Place SOONER!

Hello there! I stumbled across this site while searching for info on shin cramps. Google is weird some times.

But hey! Its a happy accident! :willy_nilly:

I've been aggressively working on losing weight since the beginning of February. Working with a doctor who specializes in weight loss, and relearning how to eat, work out, live, etc. I started at 241.6, my goal is 165. I'm at 175.7, so its basically down to the last 10. Initially I was thinking of 170, but I'm going to give myself that 5 pound buffer.

I live in the SF Bay Area, work as a photo retouch specialist and prepress person for a publishing company, married to a wonderful man for almost 15 years.

Ok, more later, but I wanted to post a quick hello! :waving:

Welcome!

Hi Phoenyx!

Welcome! I'm pretty new here, too. Congrats on you progress! :hurray:

I'm curious. How did you decide on yoru goal weight? Are you choosing based on particular body fat % or something else?

Congratulations on your weight loss so far. You are doing great - and nearly there.

A lot of us hang around after we get to goal (or as in my case - plan on doing so). Hopefully we will be maintaining our goal weight together really soon.

Haha hi! Well welcome I found this place not to long ago and I LOVE it! I'm going to tell you the same thing I tell people when I welcome them, "I think the best thing is make a diary and post in other diary's to see what people are doing in there every day life with the weight loss and working out! In my sig is a link to mine if you want to see what I'm talking about!"
That sums it up! Welcome!

Thanks, all! I'm thinking this would be a good place to be during the post 'loss' phase to not slip back in to old habits and put it back on.

The number is more of a guideline than anything else. I was initially thinking 170 at first, and decided on 165 to give myself a 5 pound buffer. But I may get down to 170 and decide I'm done. The body fat is at 32% right now... which is just over the high side of 'normal' for a woman. I figure I'll be done with the loss part when I'm satisfied with what I see in the mirror and how my clothes fit. And since I plan on putting on a little more muscle mass and dropping a bit more of the body fat... the numbers may shift since muscle is denser and weighs more than fat. Its an inexact science so far.

Omega- Wow! We're at the same 'finishing point'. fantastic!

Danny- thanks. I looked through the diaries a little bit earlier today and I may set one up just to chronicle the final 10. I've been blogging it since June, it would be fairly easy to set up a diary.

Ideal Weight

Thanks for the info! I asked because I wondered if you were basing you goal or a certain body fat% or something else. As I'm informed, 20 to 22% body fat is an ideal goal for a women.

Keep up the good work!

I was initially thinking 15-20% was a good percentage for women with the body fat, but 20 - 22 seems a lot more realistic. I think I'll aim for 25% first and take it from there. One step at a time.
