i am 40 lbs overweight,so recently i went to a nutritionist for a diet plan, and he gave me one and told me to walk in the morning and evening for 30 mins..and i am doing this for the past 2 weeks and having some result..but He also told me to drink warm water and stay away from refrigerated water..but since its very hot and humid in my country during this time of the year i couldn't follow his this advice and been drinking refrigerated water sometimes..my question is will this hamper my weight loss?

i have another qus..i sweat a lot than any normal person...30 mins of walking and i am almost bathing in sweat..does this mean i am burning more fat and calories?..

does this mean if i walk for 30 mins this is equal to a walk of say 60 mins for a normal person?

Hi Brinto,

It really doesn't matter if the temperature is warm or cold. The idea of warm is that it is slightly easier for people to drink more but if drinking cold is fine for you, then go with it. Just make sure, to keep the weight loss up, you're taking in 2 - 3 litres a day.

I am by no means an expert on weight loss but I've done my fair share of forum reading and researching.

From what I have read drinking ice water actually burns more calories then warm water. This is supposed to be because of the work your body has to do to warm it up. The calorie burn isn't anything great though, just a few extra burned from drinking the water you already should be drinking.

As far as the sweat goes, sorry your just sweaty person. You burn more calories by getting your heart rate up and keeping it up. You might be sweating more because its very hot and humid where you are, your level of fitness, etc.

But keep up the walking and water drinking! :)

If you’re on a diet to lose weight it is more important to drink a lot of water throughout the day. If you want to gain the benefit of increased energy and metabolism a good guide is to drink one ounce of water for every two pounds of body weight. A person who weighs 200 pounds should drink around 100-ounces (12.5 cups) of water in order the gain the weight loss benefits of water.

Water, weight loss, and exercise are a great combination. If exercising is part of a weight loss program more water should be included to account for water loss from sweating. Drinking water before, during and after exercise will keep energy levels high and help muscles recover after training.

The health benefits of drinking water are numerous from increasing your metabolism and boosting your energy levels, to hydrating your body and moisturizing your skin. Water is one of the most vital substances our body needs. It’s a great dietary tool and one that can be easily incorporated into everyday life.

Drink it cold, becasue your body burns calories heating it up again.
