Wii Fit

...is fantastic! My husband and I just bought the Wii a few days prior to the wii Fit coming out. My folks were at Sam's Club and they called us, knowing we had just bought the Wii, and said they had the Wii Fit on sale for 85 bucks and did we want it....sure!
So they bought it and brought it over and we all played it the rest of the day! Its sooooo much fun.
There is yoga, strength training, balance games (my fav) and aerobics games.
It keeps track of your weight, BMI, and a few other things.
I totally recommend it.;-)
 
My mom got one, so I go over and play on hers. I find Rayman's Raving Rabbids wears me out a lot faster / makes me sweat a lot more than the Wii Fit, myself. (The day after they got that one, I could barely lift my arms.) I'm hoping that the strength training bits actually work the muscles they claim to, because I can't really feel it so far.

I just unlocked the game where you float down the stream in a bubble. That and the slalom skiing are my favorites. The soccer ball heading, I'm hopeless at. And I'm getting the hang of the jog in place and the hula hoops.
 
We have a Wii and I love the sports pak games...(bowling, tennis, baseball and boxing). I've wondered about the fit pack. Thanks for the info, I might have to ask BF for the fit thingie. :)
 
ooohhh yeah I love the bubble! I haven't made it thru the first creek yet but I've got to the Y.
I unlocked snowboarding and the Island Run....both very fun!
I spent 2 hours on it this morning and was sweating my patootie off....I did all the yoga and strength exercises before I went to the fun stuff.
Sooooo much fun!!!!
 
the Island Run

Gah. That one makes my calves hurt - something about running in place. My pedometer says it's about a mile around the island, but it's just not as satisfying as running a mile outside. (Plus I'm not convinced it's actually a mile, since it only takes me about 10 minutes, and I don't run a 10-minute mile outside; more like 11.5+) I haven't done it enough to unlock the free running, though, which is my goal.

Do you try to follow the dog (different route), or just the Mii?

I unlocked the penguin one today, and I like that. Ooh, and step boxing, which completely loses me in Advanced mode, because I'm an uncoordinated klutz.

Oh, and I can actually do a real pushup on the step. I can't get as far down as I'd like to get, and using the step is easier than using the ground, but I did all 6 reps without my arms falling off, which is a good thing.
 
Yep, I was sweatin by the end of the Island Run...but I love the scenery. I ended up following the dog.
I was just talking to my husband about how cool it would be to have a virtual machine to wear over your eyes and be able to run on a real island somewhere....something that would really make ya wanna keep going.

The penguin game is fun! I like all of them so far.
I really struggled with the tightrope but I was sooo determined to make it....I got all the way thru the advanced.

We signed up at Blockbuster today to rent some games instead of wasting money on ones we ended up not liking.
We got We Ski and its awesome! Pretty sure we'll be purchasing that one;-)
 
If anyone else is using Fitday for tracking activities, and doing the Wii Fit strength games - what do you record them as? About half of them I don't feel at all, other than the "trying to stand on one leg while waving my other limbs about" effort. The other half, I barely manage to not die halfway through. I was all sweaty by about the 15-credit point, and am already (~15 minutes after finishing) feeling a bit overdone.

I'm thinking "Calisthenics home exercise, light or moderate effort, general, going up & down from floor," and counting it as 30 minutes (1 minute per credit), rather than actual clock time (which I think was closer to 45).

Steve, if you happen to read this - one of the exercises is labeled a "Rowing Squat" (picture about halfway down this page: ). That guy says he feels it in his thighs and calves; the only thing I feel is that my knees are being pushed out (to the side, not forward). I don't let my knees stick out over my toes, but I'm thinking my toes need to point in some other direction (either slightly out or slightly in). Any thoughts?
 
Wii Fit!

My wii fit finally arrived today and I am really pleased with it, i think it will definitely help me to lose weight as it keeps track of your progress, time you spend on it etc. The activites are also fun.

I'd definitely recommend it to others l;ike me who aren't very good at sticking to things.
 
I have wondered about this myself.

I wonder if there are any benefits to it that you could not get on a DVD...which is MUCH cheaper...
 
I've read a couple of articles that claim it's a joke... but have not tried it for myself yet. I'd be interested to know too, just for curiosity's sake.
 
I have one that i love to death! If i didn't have so many distractions i would do the boxing thing all day (apparently it burns 1000 calories an hour). I don't like finding my age though on it. It varies too much. One day it said I was 17 (which i am) and the next it said I was 28. It gets frustrating on the accuracy sometimes. I heard from a friend taht the creator had made it so that people could be aware of their body, and not to lose weight...but i do feel the burn! lol

Its fun! You can ski, walk a tightrope, roll in a bubble up a river, dodge soccerballs, etc.
It keeps track of your weight too.
I joined a weight loss challenge at my gym about a month ago. Whats really cool is seeing my weight loss on a graph and how much I average per week, etc.
And oh my gosh, I laughed so hard at my husband doing the hula hoops....somethin' funny about a dude swingin' his hips like that...lol...
 
I finally found a fit at Best Buy yesterday and had to grab one. I'm so excited since I'm also going to be able to get my mom in on the action. I was surprised as to how much of a work out you actually get from doing the yoga/balance/strength exercises. I love it! I have a feeling I'll be sore in the morning... (in a good way). :D

im starting to use this. And i have to say it is really working. Anyone else uses The wii Fitness??
 
I work at a GameStop and we cannot keep these things in stock. Theyre so popular! It was adorable..last week I had an old couple, at least 80, who came in asking for wiifit so they could get 'hot again'.

I have one myself. I honestly never use it as a form of exercise, the work outs are really too cutesty, not very intense, and rather boring. BUT- it is a FANTASTIC scale. you can get set goals for yourself based on either weight or BMI. Then whenever you weigh in it tracks your progress and tells you how far you are from your goal. Everytime you weight in it adds a point to a giant line graph that tracks your progress. It's so great! And it's a big motivator to stay healthy..i don't want my graph to start heading up instead of down!

I'd have to agree about the exercises not being very intense. I enjoy most of the games but I find it very easy to cop out and do a bunch of easy ones and then pretend like I've worked out for an hour. Though it's fun and a good motivator and a great scale, it doesn't really replace the gym.

I'll have to stick to DDR for my real cardio video game.
 
Does anyone have this? I want to go get it but want your opinions before I do. A different excersie besides walking all the time :)

If you have a wii already, it is quite a bit of fun. I recommend it so long as you aren't relying on it alone for your workouts.
