Why oh why?

Ok, this is a question that I'm dying to understand. Why is that X-body builders look terrible. I met this guy today that thought he was pretty cool because he USED to body build. The unfortunate thing for him is that all that muscle clearly just turned against him.

Why does this happen? I know that muscle burns fat. And I know that Fat ISN'T muscle. So, why is that most X-body builders are so stocky (puffy) right where they were once muscular????

Its really not about fat. Its just most of them can't maintain it later in life. Arrrrnold is a perfect example. The guy was freakishly large. He couldn't keep pace with his younger self and he lost alot of muscle. Add in old age and you get alot of loose skin.

Thats why.........

I'm trying to slim down I could lift and be 230 of muscle and look like a miniature arnold, but I'd rather look like some one of of GQ or hollywood at 167.

well - arnold had some - uhhhh - "help" in his younger days - eventually better living thru chemistry has to turn against you...

lol "better living through chemistry" is some of my college friends' motto....

LOL!

OK, but I think Mal really hit the nail on the head. Steroids have male AND female hormones, and since we've all heard how they make the you-know-what go soft, well eventually those female hormones probably just turn on them so they start looking like a mushy middle aged lady. LOL. But they really screw up their systems with those nasty steroids, lord knows what it does to the body but making it mushy later in life is probably one consequence. Its actually sad that people think they need to take serious health risks just to look like a no-necked beefcake.
