Im about to moan a lot....I spent 7 weeks losing 15lbs (thought i was doing pretty well at around 2lbs per week) Then i damaged my ligaments and have been unable to walk for the last fortnight - and i have put on 10lbs :(:( It just seems so unfair! I havnt eaten that much more than i would have but obv cos im not moving around it has added up....im pretty gutted but the flab war continues!

Why is it so much easier to gain than it is to lose???

Fortnight... that's 14 days right?

10 lbs of fat is equivalent to 35,000 calories. So unless you were eating an excess of 2,500 calories per day... I wouldn't sweat it. Weight is weight and fat is fat. Sure, you're not expending as much as you once were and that may have led to a slight gain in fat. But 10 lbs over 14 days is unlikely... especially if you feel like you haven't been completely bingeing.

Just a minor setback. Hang in there.

thanx steve you are right as there is no way that i consumed 35000 extra calories! just need to keep going and hopefully the excess weight will diminish a little over the next week. I decided that im prob best to cut my cals a little lower since im not very active. I usually eat around 1600 per day but i might cut back to 1200-1400. does that sound sensible or am i making a mistake there?

Assuming your ticker is right, 1600 with exercise is a bit low in my book. Maybe, while you're down and out, you should spend time "resetting" some of the metabolic disturbance you most likely created by dieting so hard.

Beating your body into submission tends to do nasty things such as injury, plateaus, etc.
