Why I want to be thin

1. I want to be able to throw on a bikini in a moments notice and feel like skipping around uninhibited.

2. I want to feel sexy when I get intimate with my bf instead of embarassed... and not have to suck my stomach in, etc.

3. I want to be able to wear clothes comfortably and feel good in them instead of always pulling my shirt down and pulling my pants up!

4. I want to hold my head up proud instead of hanging my head down all the time, because I feel frumpy and ugly and don't want anyone looking at me. I want to look at me again, I hardly even look in the mirror at all anymore.

5. I want to ENJOY going shopping for clothes AND I want to wear shorts, I haven't worn shorts in over 3 years. PANTS! PANTS! PANTS! I'm sick of always wearing pants! It gets up to 120F here in the summer and I STILL wear pants...ridiculous!

6. I want to be able to out run my mom who's 25 years older than me! (She's a vegan, goes jogging every morning, and goes to the gym every evening! You would hate her)

Das some pretty powerful, precise and explicit reasons.

It's good to get this stuff written down and read daily. Hourly, if necessary. I approve of this post. :D

I don't mean this to be mean, but given your current level of thinness, and the fact that your target weight is technically underweight, I think some of those things might be in your head more than they are on the scale. And changing the scale isn't going to change your head.

Haha I agree with this post.

And your username made me laugh, I can hear myself saying that. "I will be hot again!"

agreed with the previous earlier posts to a point. 140 isnt a great fatness even if you were a dwarf. i would suspect a lot of it is in your mind. You may wish to loose a few lb which would make you feel better, but you possibly need to stop comparing yourself to others and just enjoy life a little more ... why be obsessed on what other people think you look like?

Oh, dang. Too used to ignoring signatures. Didn't even catch that.

Still. Just be aware that if you feel that ashamed at that weight you are might be either bordering on neurotic or skinny fat. Neither of which can be fixed with regular old starve yourself and/or do cardio weight loss. :) Hard to say without a picture. *cough* What? It's legitimate.

I am at the same place she is. I weigh 143 now, and I want to get down to 125, although I have said I would settle for 130 if at that time I look and feel good about myself, and my weight loss. I don't know what her height is, but if its in normal range, which it is for me, I think its fine. go for it! you can do it! I have some of the same motivators.

you don't have to be "obese" to be overweight and your body can be considered a healthy BMI according to charts, but if you don't workout you can still have cellulite in your thighs, arms and stomach. Weight doesn't always measure your fitness level, I've seen 300lb people with no cellulite because they are very active and I've seen 102lb people with lots of cellulite because they are not active.

I completely agree with and feel the same way. All of those reasons are legit and nothing feels better then being comfortable in your own skin and feeling healthy and fit enough to do the thinsg you want to. The only difference is that I want to run with my boyfriend and not my mom, but he too is extremely healthy and works out alomost every day.

I also agree that you don't have to be obese to be overweight. I only weigh 143, but I still want to lose at least ten pounds.

If you don't mind me asking, how tall are you??

"Cellulite" is mostly a genetic thing, right along with where you gain first and lose last. Plus you said those are reasons you want to "be thin," which for most people means "weigh less," not "be in better shape." And my point was really that none of your reasons require weighing less, much less weighing as much less as you appear to be aiming for.

Yeah I'm really astounded at how many people tell me I don't need to lose weight on this site and I'm at the high end of the healthy BMI. I know I have about 10 pounds to go and for people to tell me otherwise because they have 100 pounds to go is really self-centered.

Do you know your body fat %? Maybe that should be your next step to make sure your not over doing it. But I'm no expert.

Adam, I agree with you, to an extent. This is why I use words like might, appears, seems, probably, possibly etc. There are no absolutes. Shit, when I had dropped down to 170 from 280 a couple years back I had all kinds of people practically wanting to throw me an intervention because they suspected anorexia, when my body fat was still over 16% (I'm a boy. 16% is starting to push it for most females, depending on your level of fitness, goals, blah blah blah, etc).

However, case in point for the other side of the argument, I would have looked much, much better at that weight and been much more satisfied and much less intent on losing another 20 lbs if I had lost it at a slower pace and incorporated weight training and a nice, clean, balanced diet.

Good on you, slavke. If we're being perfectly honest, it's the other way around, for me.

Then again, I'm still young, and as far as I can tell, invincible. :p
I'm not young and I agree....

I'm more invisible than invincible though :)
