Why I Gain So Much After Eating??

I drink 24-48 oz water with each meal and probably about 1 gallon to 1 1/2 gallons of water every day, at lunch I had a porkchop w/ stuffing, corn and mashed potatoes and I gained 3 lbs and tonight I had a lean cusuine pizza, 100 calorie pack, a fruit cup and I gained 3 more..... is most of this water and will it be back down in the morning? I just dont get that if I gain this weight up during the day and I weigh in the morning how am I ever supposed to lose weight?

Think about this. If you have a scale with a 20# weight on it, it should weigh 20 pounds. If you add a gallon of milk, it will weigh more than 20 pounds correct? If you weigh 200 pounds before your meal and you eat 2 pounds of food and beverage you will probablly weigh 202 pounds if you weigh yourself directly after you eat.

If you insist on weighing yourself every day, do it at the same time every day so you will be comparing apples to apples.

The way i do it is I get up in the morning and go to the scale. I am not saying it is the perfect time to weigh but it is just my routine I have so I know I am comparing my weight from my previos weigh in wiht a controlled enviornment. Does this make sense. I might not be explaining it well. Hopefully someone can add to my explaination.
Hope this helps.

how we weigh ourselves is a sitcom in itself - I'm makin a video later today as I'm teetering on 160.0 - 159.5 and it's hilarious how many things we do to make it read right.

But yeah - I get up and try everything to go to the bathroom and give myself sometimes a couple hours before i weigh myself. With my routine - I don't eat until I workout, and I don't workout until I weigh myself. Obviously, Im unemployed at the moment so as you can imagine - this waiting game can take awhile. And man, I swear I've tried for an hour just to pee out another 1/2 pound. LOL. Classic.

this reminds me of the thread about habits of weighing :)

Yeah evening will gain you anywhere up to 4lb compared to morning when you have an empty stomach. Also if you are constipated you can retain more, or if you are loaded with water.
I cycle, and when i race i dont weigh in for about 2-3 days afterwards because of the amount of water i consume in a race. If i drink 1litre per hour thats 1kg (2lb) im taking in. More often than not ill ride from 2 hours up to 6hours. It can take a few days for the water weight to disappear :)
Also i notice when i exercise i retain more water, so ill weigh less after doing no exercise for 2 days

The best time to weigh yourself is when you wake up in the morning. Go to the bathroom, walk around a bit and then weigh yourself. I have found that I can wake up and weigh 180 and then do all of the above, and even work out and then I weigh 178.

I never weigh myself after I eat or drink, that is not an accurate reading by any means. I am an everyday weigher, although that is an awful habit. I didn't weigh myself yesterday so that is a start.

Watching your weight is like watching a pot of water boil. Keep working at it and try not to weigh yourself so much. The weight will move down.

It's best not to weigh yourself everyday IMO. Things can start to get a bit OCD when you weigh in all the time!

A tend to weigh myself everyweek, then use the mirror to judge progress every day.

I think its up to the individual, Ive weighed myself every day for the last 18 months. Now i know my cycles and when im heavier or not. Its great!
