Why I decided to get in shape

About a week ago now, I was speaking with a friend about my body and whether or not it was influencing my success with women. He told me, 'no, women don't care about your body, but then care about what YOU THINK about your body.'

I'm not sure if this is true, but I decided to try the test he talked about to see what I thought of my own body. So I got out a paper bag, cut out some eye holes, got naked, and put the bag over my head. Then I walked in front of my full length mirror and looked at my reflection...

But it didn't look like me. It was like I was seeing someone else. A stranger. A fat stranger with a plump and lame body. It was as if blocking out my face helped me see what others see on a daily basis – and i didn't like what I saw.

Anyway, I'm SUPER motivated to turn things around so I've decided to join this forum and learn as much as possible.

Thanks

There is a lot to what your friend said. A massive amount of how appealing you are is down to confidence and feeling that you are attractive helps a lot with most people's confidence.
I would say first and foremost your own opinion is what counts, and if you are unhappy with yourself and want to change it that is perfect motivation.
The next steps are the hard ones, deciding what you want to do, how to do it and being patient enough with yourself to realise this is not going to happen instantly.
There are many on this forum who have been exactly where you are now, and are now really enjoy their new life, and the training they are doing. This is crucial and no-one can stress its importance enough. If you really hate a particular activity, you need to find an alternative. I love running, but put a ball at my feet and several others trying to take it away, all of a sudden I hate it, so I run but don't play football (soccer).
