Why do the present youth play with their health in the name of being fashionable?

zero figure, diet consciousness has become the trend in the present time but with the charm also comes diseases, illness and what not??? There is no fashion for a skeleton but people tend to forget it until they get a bed in the hospitals...can something be done about this? yes a lot...if only healthy food is incorporated
in one's diet so much could be stoped from damaging. Now its up to us...whether be lifeless skeletons or healthy humanbeings...CHOICE IS OURS

Thats a strong statement. People don't end up looking like skeletons through choice.

In our country, size 0 clothes are cheaper and more abundant than clothes that are 12+ (We don't have size 15+ available here unless you ask a dressmaker to make you one). Me, as an overweight person living in asia wants to have a go for fashion. To tell you honestly, most cheap and fashionable clothes here only has size 0-10 and size 12+ only has 1% chance to show up in some store (NO LIE). When people here say "fit", they actually mean skinny and when people here say "fat", they actually pertain to someone who's size 12+. Sometimes I feel so down being bullied most of the time just for being a little overweight and not wearing nice clothes.

As a youth, we get socially pressured, we feel down if we don't feel belongingness. I now go through the extra effort to search nice clothes in my size (im size 13-14) and I'm lucky to find some. I also make people not notice my overweight by making my hair and make up look really nice (no, not the overdone ones) I had some nice compliments so far. I'm very confident with myself but sometimes I just want to be healthy as well. That's why I decided to lose weight.

It certainly is a shame that so many people are underweight - and that this unhealthy weight is effectively promoted by popular culture and the fashion industry. Being underweight is no more healthy than being overweight - and the knowledge of what is "too thin for good health" needs to be better understood by the general population to discourage people from striving for this... It is two sides of the same coin... Many of us here are apt to be large as we aspire towards a healthy weight.

Everyone - no matter what their size has the right to feel good about themselves. They are also wise to make the best of their appearance. If people smile and look confident - they tend to look better already without making other changes... Cleanliness and being well groomed also have a dramatic and immediate effect.

Even a limited wardrobe will look better with nice accessories - and things like bags, shoes, costume jewellery etc are available to all.

Large people will generally always look large... Skinny people will always look skinny. They can all however look smart.

If people are in a country where they simply cannot find clothes in their size they could look for nice styles which may be flattering for larger people and have clothes made in similar styles - or try their hand at dressmaking and see if they can manage to make it themselves...

When I was a big person I had some clothes which I loved... Not the everyday clothes - but I did have some special outfits that I tended to get for special occasions - they tended to be quite expensive... I most certainly looked big in them - but smart too...

Looking back - I wish that I had worn the special outfits more often... I tended to save them up for best - but in the end gave them all away when I lost weight - some of these outfits were hardly ever worn at all...

I would say to everyone - if you have a specially nice outfit - wear it!!!

Obviously - it is good for you to want to aspire towards a healthy weight. I wish you luck in your project. I am also pleased to hear that you are confident and like yourself as you are now.
