Ok, been watching what i eat every day, maintaining my calories excellently, exercising regularly, losing weight every day.......yesterday, changed exercise routine, just for the day, walked 6.5 kms ...ate no different, drank ALOT of water, and BAM 1.7kgs overnight!!!! What did I do wrong??? I weigh myself everyday, and have been losing between 300g and 700g a day.....why am i going backwards? HELP

Um, you must be super new to weight loss. It's fine to weigh yourself everyday but you CAN'T take your everyday weight to heart. Weight naturally fluctuates day to day with water and other factors. That's why most people weigh themselves every week or even every two weeks.

The weight you gained is obviously not fat. Because it's nearly impossible to gain 3.75 pounds of fat over night. It is most likely water weight and may be gone by tomorrow morning, or subside over a few days. Working out can also build muscle which weighs more than fat, but anything that makes your scale jump overnight is almost always water weight.

Another thing to always consider is how many hours of sleep you got and when the last time you ate/drank was. Obviously if you only slept 2 hours and you ate/drunk right before you went to bed you'd weigh more.

Edit: by the way 300-700g a day is pretty rapid weight loss anyway. And while the more weight you have to lose, the faster and easier it will be to lose, you shouldn't expect to be losing at that rate for your whole weight loss journey. 2 pounds per week is the fastest recommended weight loss, and that would average out to 129gs a day.

Pretty much what the above poster said is spot on.

Weight fluctuates. That's a fact of life. It fluctuates based on what you ate, what type of exercise you did, how much salt you consumed, what time of month it is (especially for women, but even men are affected by hormonal fluctuations), etc. Weighing daily is fine as long as you don't freak out about the number - learning what your body reacts to and how it responds is a good thing.

Thanks heaps for that guys, the weight did subside a little overnight, 800g as a matter of fact. I know from what I have read that the amounts of weight i am losing every day does seem to be quite alot, but I am not pushing myself! I have maintained my calorie intake at about 1800 and do 1 hr exercise as well as day to day stuff. Another thing that contributed to as metioned above, is that i over slept by 1.5 hrs that night too when i have been making sure i only have 8 hrs every night for the last 3 weeks. 11.30 pm to 7.30am every day. Thanks alot for your imput tho i really appreciate it.

also you may find for females different times of the month you will gain/loose water weight :)

My weight fluctuates 4-6 pounds per week usually...lowest on Wednesday/Thursday and highest on Sunday morning. This is purely because I eat much more sodium on the weekends. Everybody is different...just make sure to watch the general trend week after week. :)

Tip 1: Don't weigh yourself every day. It's going to do nothing but cause problems and piss you off.

Tip 2: The body naturally varies it's own weight throughout the day. Your weight can vary anywhere between 2-5 lbs from day to day.

I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I've had the same problem where i was doing hard exercise for 1 week then checked my Weight i suddently went up by 1.3kg i was about to faint lool but i realised it was due to the side effect of water ( as when i drink water my tummy bloats).
