Why can't I lose weight that should be easy to lose?

Hey all, I have been reading these forums religiously since I joined. This is my first post.

I am 22, and have been doing gym andn exersize seriously for 7 years. I have had decent sized breaks in the middle a few times, and this time I managed to put on about 9 kilos (20ish pounds?).

I go to gym 3 days a week, each day doing a seperate set of muscles for an hour and a half. One day back and biceps, next day shoulders chest and triceps, and third day abs. 3 other days a week, I run. 2 days of HIIT training, and 1 day I do an 8km (5 mile?) run.

On your average day, I will have Wheatbix with water and honey for breakfast, exersize, then have a singlel sandwich with grilled chicken, then I will go to work for about 12 hours and have a single meal in the middle of that shift, often a little less healthy, like a foccacia from a restaurant around the corner.

Work is very active, as it is in a club, so I am always on my feet and moving around. So I should also be burning a lot of energy there. Many of you may say that I need to try to eat more frequently, but a) it really isn't possible with my work schedule, and b) with wrk and exersize there really isn't a moment in the day when I am not doing something to keep my metabolism up.

I have lost about half the weight, but it has taken me about 6 weeks (wayy too long). And now, the weight loss has stagnated. Can anyone make any suggestions?

loosing 12IBS (of fat) in 6 weeks would be right on target, you say you've lost only 10IBS. well if that 10IBS is fat then your not far off and you should keep it up. as for some suggestions, you seem to already know that answer. eating more often and healthyer. you say there is no time in your schedule to sit down and eat, well then you need to eat while running around. somthing like home made meal bars, or shakes, a chicken breast in a bag. get a backpack and bring it to work then find a way to sneek it down if you have to. IE: when you go to the bathroom, obviously your 15min breaks. or you can tell your boss "hay would it be ok if I can eat a snack every few houres, it will only take me like 30 sec's to do. Im trying to loose weight and stay healthy and this is what I need to do." chances are they will say ok, if not I would do it behind his/her back. personaly I don't let others determine that sort of thing. anywho your weight loss stagnation may be from a great deal of things, anything from water retention/ fluctuation, you might have been eating a little more than before, or whatever give it time and keep a closer eye on your portions, diet. maby invest in a thermogenic of some kind. green tea's would be my first choice for minor help.

Hrm.. I know what you are saying with rate of weight loss, but in the past, I have lost weight much more quickly. Keep in mind I was going from fast food regularly, and no regard for diet and no exersize, so 6 days a week of exersize and a close eye on diet. But as you say, weight loss is weight loss.

Is it really worth while to keep eating regularly at work even if I am running around all the time keeping up my metabolism anyway? There will be days when it will be close to impossible to eat at work as I said, its in a club and some days its non-stop, but I suppose i could hide in the bathroom and eat a banana or something quickly.. Do you really think the regular eating will help more?

What would green tea do to help me?

Dante,

Losing weight fast is very unhealthy. You can damage your liver, and its almost a guarantee that you will gain it back.

2lbs a week is normal healthy weight loss.

i agree with the posters above, even 2 lbs a week is quite an accomplishment. one thing i would add though, if it were me and i wasnt seeing more weightloss i'd take another look at exactly what i was eating. maybe make a more specific list and keep track of what you're eating. maybe you've still got some calories coming from the wrong sources?

It's actually a natrual mild thermogenic, which speeds up your metabolism. It's also an antioxidant, so it has that many more benefits. Again it's a mild thermogenic, so if you wanted something a little stronger you could look into HotRox, or anything similar. But it sounds like you're doing fine. Just think if you were to lose weight to fast, on top of what Allen said, your skin wouldn't be able to tighten up as fast as it need to. So you'd have saggy loose skin everywhere!! Stick to it, and you'll reach your goal..

I forgot who told me this.. But "Dont try to lose weight.. Try to look toned, Wile makeing your self more toned, your loseing weight too"....

I think thats what they told me... :p
