Why am I Not Losing Weight?

I am 33 years old and 5ft4 and weight 13.1 and am a size 14/16. I recently lost 6 stone but put 1.5 back on.

I desperately want to lose this weight and am currently running/walking at least 4 miles a day on my treadmill burning around 500 calories and eating extremely sensibly, an example of my daily food is:

Porridge and a banana
3 x go ahead biscuits
ham salad sandwich made with wholemeal bread and a bit of mayo
home made chicken currychilli with low fat sauce loads of veg and about a cup full of rice
Muller light yoghurt
Coffe and water throughout the day

I dont seem to be losing any weight and I really dont understand why. I lost 2 pounds the first and second week but for the past 2 weeks I have not lost anything.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Am I eating enough/too much? Am I exercising too much?

Any suggestions would be really helpful thanks.

Honestly the key to losing weight is in what you eat. Exercise is good for all kinds of reasons, don't get me wrong, but until you control your food, you won't lose weight.

What you listed as food doesn't really tell anything about your diet necessarily. We don't know what size portions you're eating, what the ingredients are in what you're eating, etc. It also doesn't tell us how much sodium or other preservatives you're eating - which can have a huge effect on your weight in the form of water retention.

The first thing I'd suggest is registering for a free account on or and starting to log your food. This will let you see how many calories you're eating and how your nutrition levels are breaking down. Once you know that, you'll be able to see more clearly where you can make adjustments, cut back, change your nutrition, etc.

At your height/weight you should be eating around 1700-2000 calories per day in order to lose weight sensibly and safely.
