Who Are You? :)

I don't know Lisa, but I've read some of her posts and some posts from just about everyone on this thread. I'm very very impressed by the weight loss Lisa has accomplished so far, and what she's done so far makes me confident she can do the rest.

I'm Vanessa, a 35 year old lawyer. My son Frank will be 13 months old this Friday. My second wedding anniversary is coming up on Monday. Congratulations, Steve, on your engagement! I do all researching and writing at my job, so I'm able to check this site when I'm at work, Monday thru Thursdays. I never log on to the computer on weekends.

I love to exercise and cringe at the thought of counting calories. My ideal day would involve lots and lots of time outdoors. I used to live in rural Missouri and I loved spending time fishing or or canoeing. Now that I'm back in the big city where I grew up, I like to take long walks to the park with my husband and son.

This site is so helpful to me because it gives me an outlet for all of my concerns and ambitions about losing weight. I've been leaning on my husband on this front for years, and he's very supportive, but he doesn't struggle with his weight and frankly I need more people than just him to turn to about this.

It's funny, in my mind I have this little thing where I view M2M as a mom, like instead of saying M2M, I always have this urge to say MOM lol, but a very cool, supportive mom and then I picture Mal as the rebellious fun aunt lol.

Well - M2M stands for mom2meg :) So I get called mom a lot! And Mal would be a GREAT Aunt - I had two like her when I was young (way back in the day) and it was very good for the soul :D

I don't know Vanessa, but I'm glad you posted and I look forward to reading more about you - I love to fish, but have a real hard time handling a canoe - a kayak is worse though, I just go round and round in circles - granted, it might be because the only time I kayak is on the 4th of july after a few too many to drinks ;)

Something I just discovered about me - I love, love LOVE La Tortilla Factory Tortillas spread with a little butter and banana slices sprinkled with cinnamon! (Thanks Mal!!)

I know Deb. When I first came to this forum, people didn't take to kindly to me. They thought I was imposing with unique views that didn't make much sense. Deb (M2M) looked past this though, and welcomed me with open arms. Actually, if it weren't for her and a few others.... I don't think I would be part of this fine community. So thanks. :)

More about me, hmmmm.

Besides fitness and fishing, my favorite hobby is reading and research. Next to that it is the sport of lacrosse.

They thought I was imposing with unique views that didn't make much sense
Not true... you've seen first hand how many 'experts' we get thru the front door and how many of them really are only legends in their own minds... It's like a hazing :D you passed...

Lacrosse? fascinating... awesome sport and lacrosse players have the best bodies... anyone who can put up with me on a daily basis andnot want to take a swing at me - is OK...

Cym was missed above -and I don't really know her (for all my 8 gajillion posts I have I don't think I've ever had a personal conversation with anyone here.. I don't really know anyone... :( but she's got a lot of drive and motivation and her efforts to improve her body and herself have paid off and hse looks fantastic and is goiong to become a person who will help others attain their goals.. pretty cool.. :D

Me: for all my 8 gajillion posts i'm a very quiet and reserved person... I collect dolls that right now collect dust... and live with a 12 year old kitty I adopted in January from a buddy who's family wanted to put the cat down because she peed outside her litter box occassinally -and rather than take the cat to a vet they wanted to destroy it - so I felt bad and took inthe cat - it was a few rough months wehre ginger got out her hostilities on me - but now we're pals - two curmudgeons -l ike the odd couple :)

I don't know Mal, but I do know and I certainly like her online persona - she's a very cool lady ... even if she does sometimes /slap me for being naughty ;) (p.s. I like being slapped by Mal).

Me, I'm Paul, I live in East Anglia, UK, I'm 44 years old. Post weight loss but addicted to subscribing to this group and seeking enhanced fitness and to be a five percenter. Some of you know my dog Wolfy. I am happily married, and I have three children. My son Edward has severe disabilities, but he is great!. I work in a smelly biomass fueled power station. I can speak Portuguese (badly), I like to Flickr, and I have had many other interests including for example, ham radio, adult education, and archaeology.

Next to that it is the sport of lacrosse.

Hot dog! I played lacrosse all through high school. Back then, in Colorado (1963 to 1966), there were very few high school lacrosse teams, so we played some college teams as well - Air Force Academy, Univ. of Colorado, etc. The last season I played, we started out with 36 people on the team, and by the end of the season had 17 left -- the rest out with injuries.

No way! I knew there was something about you I liked Tom. :p

I still play, but nothing serious. Indoor here and there. Greatest game in the world!

More info about me:

I have 2 cats. Their names are Bob and Frank. I used to have a dog too.

I don't "know" Steve, but he offers so much great advice on this board. He answers all sorts of questions that people throw at him. He also posts on different topics than just physical health, and has some quotes that really make me think. He takes time out of his day to encourage me at my diary, and it always makes me smile.

Me? My name is Casey. I am a college student at a rural agricultural college who is an English major and a Philosophy minor (how crazy). I love to run and swim. I love politics, social theories, conspiracy theories, moral and ethical questions, reading, and hanging out with friends. I am nineteen years old and in less than two weeks I will be moving out of the dorm and into my own apartment. I don't eat meat and I rarely eat dairy. I'm hoping to become a full-fledged vegan in the next several years. I'm in a wonderful relationship with a man who I think may be "the one." I'm in a local sorority with some of the sweetest, most incredible women at my university. I hope to do editing work at a publishing company someday. I've lost 11 pounds since January 1st and I'm hoping to lose between 4 and 9 more (haven't made up my mind yet). My favorite foods are mushrooms, peppers, and onions.

Casey is a beautiful intelligent young woman, who's really got it together. She has a great sense of humor and is one fo the many assets to this forum. She brings a lot of personality :D

Something you didn't know about me - I'm really not as much of a pain in the ass as I appear :) Well sometimes I am - I just want what I want when I want it :D and sometime I'm way too sensitive for my own good...

I know Mal from WLF. She is a caring, insightful, humorous woman who comes off tougher than I think she really is. She comes off as a flaming liberal hater, but I suspect that she and I secretly agree on a lot of things. She's been in this struggle much longer than I have, and has made a lot more progress than I have, and I respect her immensely for that. She encourages and supports lots and lots of people on this forum.

OK, here's something about me you may not know. . .
I do photography in my spare time. I'm represented at a gallery in San Diego called the Ordover Gallery (www.ordovergallery.com). I sell some of my photos, too, for up to $1200 each. Still, I don't make a cent on it, because every dollar I make selling goes into equipment and supplies. But it's a hobby that keeps me active and sane and in touch with nature.

I don't know Tom that well, but we seem to share a lot of the same views. He's a very knowledgable and helpful guy and I just saw his photos - amazing work Tom!

I'm an accountant (very sexy, I know) and father of a soon to be 5yr old. I'm 34 (turning 35 next week!) and I've always had more bodyfat than I wanted. I've yo-yo'd from 230lbs 5 years ago to about 185lbs 2 years ago. Now I'm about 214 and I want to get back down to 185. I practice a full-contact style of karate and I love cycling (both road and MTB). I want to feel better about myself and look good naked :D I generally know what I need to do and not do, but I tend to experience spurts of high motivation mixed with spurts of low motivation. I generally eat very well, but I crave junk food a lot and I tend to give in easily.

I don't know 12packabs at all but we seem to share the same love of junk food and ability to give in easily;)

My name is Darcie and I am a mom to 5 wonderful children. I joined this site to help find the strength and confidence I lost when I gained all my weight. I know I will never be as thin as I was in high school but being able to play with the kids without needing a nap in the middle would be nice:eek:

I love this place it really makes any day good or bad better!

Okay, I don't know dragonlover but... FIVE KIDS??? Wow.

I am contemplating a bag of cookies just thinking about.

Girl, I admire your strength!

I will continue with indigo because otherwise she will be skipped:
I don't know indigo well, but she seems to be a very friendly person with a great sense of humour and she does NOT want 5 kids.

Me, my name is Mila, I am 22 years old study (and graduate in May from) Human Physiology and Pharmacology, which is why I know quite a bit about the human organism and this helped me decide to change my lifestyle.
I suffer from a series of more or less serious diseases, which makes eating right and exercising hard because I go through spells of daily vomiting for a few weeks and then my organism is all jumbled up.
In my former life I was an athlete, a professional dancer, and worked in musicals (Cats for example) and even did Gogo dancing *slightlyashamed*, but going to university, I fell in love a little bit too much with my couch!
Apart from that I am with the best man ever and I am quite happy with my life when I am healthy and doing good.
Love, xxMilaxx

I don't really know Mila, but I do know that she always something positive to say and is always helpful and inspiring!

I am Renee. I am 24 years old. No significant other and no kids (thank goodness!). The first time I realized I was fat was in 4th grade when this boy, Adam, started making fun of me for being fat. Before then, I never really paid attention. Throughout my life I've tried to lose weight and get healthy but I've always given up after a day or two. I've also suffered from depression and anxiety since I was a child and I think over the years that has contributed tremendously to my inability to sustain motivation to do anything (including lose weight). But right now it seems like the right time. And I actually feel myself making healthy and positive changes in my life that will not only allow me to lose weight and be physically healthy, but also gain confidence and mental clarity. :)

I don't know Renee. (however my middle name is rena, as well) ;)

My name is Angie. I am 41 years old. I have been married for 23 years and we been together for 26 years. We have 3 kids aged 21,19 and 16.

I have had alot of problems with weight partly, due to the meds used treating my bi-polar disorder and my panic attacks with agoraphobia.

I don't know crazybabie but I can relate to her being bi-polar because I've dealt with depression which sometimes goes with bi-polar.

My name is Rebecca but all my life it's always been Becky. I am a former exotic dancer which says I was once thin. After dancing I gained twice my wiehgt and until 3 nights ago losing wiehgt wasn't very important to me, but now it's a primary goal. I am 29 years old, no kids, can't have kids, but I help raise my little sister's 6 kids. My 8 year old nephew is my walking/running partner. He has lots of energy to burn and he's entertaining. Today I officially kicked off the "Help Aunt Becky get thin" routine. We walked a little over a mile non-stop. For a beginner I guess that's pretty fair. Because of an accident a year ago my ankle can't take the pressure of my weight, so running is currently out of the picture. I will be doing a journal soon, unfortunately this lady gets sunburnt to easily and because today was a nice 80 degrees I have a burn induced headache.

My name is Bill and im 20 years old. I wasted the first 18 years of my life. Really nothing to show for it. Ive always been average in everything because I lose interest extremely fast (School, Jobs, etc.). The exact day I graduated highschool I ended my addiction to soda and subsiquently lost 50 lbs. Currently 6'1 215 lbs.

Ive got alot of "Plans". Pretty much sums up my life, I plan out a lot of things and never really get around to doing them. I "Plan" on playing ice hockey professionally sometime in the near future, even though thats a massive pipe-dream.

I really didn't keep up with any of my friends after highschool and have grown apart from all of them. Theres a couple girls in my life that im actually interested in but as usual thats just one of my amazing "plans".

I decided that I needed to take time off of school(dumb**** move) so I bypassed college in favor of a terrible factory job. Ive had a catering job since I was four-teen, nothing amazing.

Im going to school this summer or fall at a local community college, in the hopes of actually getting into a decent four year university. But, as one would expect, that probably will not happen.

Im the most sarcastic individual you'll ever meet and the funniest person ever. I'll always stick by my motto "Failure at life".

To be continued:p

I don't know Bill, but you kinda sound like my little brother ;) Chin up kiddo, you'll get it all figured out, you're young!

I am 26 and getting divorced. No kids. Been with the same guy since I was 15, so excited to get out and about, and at the same time terrified ;) Never lived alone, never been alone, so really can't wait to do my own thing! Got a bachelor's in MIS and work at a non-profit research and development firm in Ohio. I have a 5 yr old pug, Emma Lou, whom I adore. Original goal was 125lbs, but now that I am there, think I will take it a bit further. I love soccer and cooking/baking. Family is of the utmost importance.
