Whileys Mission!

Can I just congratulate you on the ice cream.

I know how hard it is.
although my dad and sister try to be supportive they cant give up chocolate and sweets.
I shouldn't expect them too but it would be nice to come home and there not be chocolate or fudge in the fridge!!

My sister constantly eats chips as well.
Although I don't particuallarly like them the smell is something else!!

We often have cake at work for birthdays as well and biscuits so I know how hard it is!

You are doing extremley extremley well and its soo nice that your boyfriend is supporting you in the way he is as well.

It helps to have someone there and he sounds like hes the perfect help to you!

And don't worry about not being as big as others.
I wish I'd done something about my weight before it had got too big but I never thought I'd get as big so I congratulate you on that as well to sort it out before it becomes too big an issue!

I wish you all the luck in the world and I will check in when possible just to check you haven't had too much ice cream!!

Sorbet is always a good option as well!!
and skinny cow ice cream though I've heard its not too good!

Thank you Pinkie! :D

Our shpping is about to be delivered and i'm quite excited as weight watchers has a deal on! Money off 4 different meals and 6 different desserts!!! So got loads :D

I have an interview for a job later, so wishing i could grab a chocolate bar, but i shall resist! Wish me luck!

Also, going to dinner this evening. Eeek! My first meal out on this diet - and its a curry night! Alas! Suggestions please?

Get rice and don't get naan bread!!
Good luck!!
xxxx

Whiley,

best of luck on the job :)

and keep up the exercise and eating regime. I highly recommend you to count calories, but if you aren't a fan of this, you can continue as you please. (when i first started out, i didn't count calories either...and eventually...i started too...i think its a necessary evil  )

take care,

adam

I agree with pinketnies. Some curries have coconut milk or coconut cream in them. It really is deadly. Other times a sauce maybe opaque but just from yoghurt. So you would need to know the main ingredients. Tandoori is good (and yum). And some curry places have great dishes with fish and spinach in them. Some curry places offer various nice healthy sambals as side dishes and chances are that they will be in yoghurt which is fine, but may be sprinkled with coconut (which is deadly!!:D). Pappadums are usually deep fried. Dahl is mainly complex carbohydrate, but also has some protein - some lentils have coconut milk added! I am getting hungry now thinking about classy curries...

I'm flattered about the quote!! :) I have to say that the words were mine but the idea of getting pleasure from the victory over the food, instead of the pleasure of eating the food, was related to a little story I read elsewhere on the forum recently. (I can't find it now though!)

Keep up the great start.

I hope that curry night went well, and without any diet catastrophes, I'm sure you're able to stay on track ;) You've got a wonderful start, just keep it up girl :hug2:

Well there wasnt much choice at the curry place, in fact it was a very poor curry place!! And it tasted naaasty. Total waste of calories, but had a fabulous time out with friends! :D

Darren surprised me by finding a light beer at the bar we went to so that was a nice treat!

I am finding that i'm roughly calory counting, as well as counting everything else as well! I try to be aware of the foods around me and keeping that vibe going!

I did have a little freak to myself at the bar we went to.
I was sitting at the table with my lad friends, yeah all blokes, about 7 of them. Love them to pieces and they accept me easily, i'm not in anyones face but i share the same humour and games, etc. Then on all 4 tables around us, suddenly filled up with Page 3 barbies. All blondes, eyeliner, transparent babydolls and annoying voices, cackling loudly. I felt so stupid. And some of the lads noticed that i went quiet, but after a pep talk from the boyfriend, a cuddle and having the boys sit all around me so i felt sheltered from them looking at me and judging me, i was much better.
Its just something i'm going to have to overcome.

I made myself so interested from talking about curry over here, that I ended up making some. And mine wasn't a 100% success either!! Still there were some yummy bits and there's always next time.

Well done on the fun with real friends. That is the best thing. :)

Creamy curries are one of my weaknesses!

Nevermind.

Yesterday we celebrated my friends birthday- i honestly had no idea how it was going to go.

Shes pregnant so we werent on any alcohol, but usually when we get together we watch movies and eat loads of pizza, ice cream, pringles, doritos you name it! Yesterday we ended up making a lovely mashed potato and pork steak meal with loads of veggies! AND i only had a tiny piece of birthday cake. I'm so pleased with myself!

I spent the morning moving around part of my animal room, cleaning out cages, hoovering, all sorts. Hours later i feel like i've had a work out!!

I run a rattery, i show and breed fancy rats. I've just come in and collapsed with a small bowl of ben and jerrys low fat chocolate brownie frozen yoghurt and one of my many rats Scarlet.

Just took this lovely picture and had to share! Isnt she beautiful.

Wonderful job on keeping everything on track in moderation Whiley. I do think your rat is cute actually, I like rodents/reptiles, I think they're very cool. But I'm a freak when it comes to insects, I simply can't handle them. You're doing great ;)

Well its been a few days since posting, and in that time i seem to have made progress!
I read that if you weigh yourself only once or twice a week, first thing in the morning after going to the toilet that that is your true weight?
Well if that is true, i appear to have lost 10 lbs in total! I'm sure it cant be right. Not as a true weight.
I used to eat rediculous amounts of food, and i cant help thinking that what i was weighing myself in at must have been a considerable amount of food just sitting in my belly, or water!
Mind you, i have drastically cut my intake, i'd say i'm eating about a third of what i would usually, if not less. Plus a lot more exercise!

My last few days have matched dietwise..
2 Slimfast shakes - one for breakfast and one for the evening.
1 Weightwatchers microwave meal in the afternoon.
And one of those days i did have a weightwatchers dessert.
A few pumpkin seeds here and there.
Only 1 cup of tea a day, 1 glass of juice. Rest is water and diet coke.

I dont think i'm even reaching 1000 calories at the moment.

Exercise wise, mostly made up of short work outs, doubled with the efforts of moving animal cages around for a while - which gets a sweat going!
Yesterdays exercise was a tad extreme, 3 hours 'greeting' the boyfriend after his weekend away. I missed him. :D

Eitherway, very happy. Can someone please confirm for me the whole true weight situation?

*HYPERVENTILATES*

Apparently i'm invited to the Paintballers Association Ball towards the end of the year.
This means wearing a dress.

*Is petrified*

don't be petrified :) dresses can be very grateful actually :) what are your problem areas? if your problem are arms then wear sleaves that cover just the upper part of your arm and your shoulder, and if you have problems with strong calves wear sth that covers them.
don't worry. can always wear a suit hehe

I can say with confidence from both personal experience and external experience absorbed from the smart people that float around this forum, YOU ARE NOT EATING ENOUGH! I say this with love and concern! Girl trust me, I was eating 600 calories a day when I first started and not only does it not last (it simply is impossible to sustain that sort of caloric intake for any amount of time for most people) but the only thing that will happen is that your body will decide that is your new maintenance range. Perhaps you should post a query/thread in the harsh truth section and after providing all the requisite information, asking for some advice on your diet. I assure you that you'll get great feedback...just think about it! :)

oh i didn't even read that well the post before the hyperventilation. i agree with sarah here. you're not enough calories. go to this page please, check it out...you can calculate how much calories you should be taking in daily for a healthy weight loss which is 1-2lbs per week.

have a great day :)
Lena

Our weight fluctuates every day, and as well as being affected by how much body fat we have, is also affected by things like how much food we have in our bodies at a given moment, and how much fluid. Weighing first thing in the morning after going to the loo, is just a way of trying to even out some of that fluctuation between one day and the next. A lot of women on here also notice quite substantial gains before their periods, and a corresponding drop afterwards. I notice weird fluctuations even over a few minutes, which I presume are telling me that my scales were too cheap and that if I want reliable information I should buy some better ones! I've come to terms with that by following the advice to just compare the lowest or highest one every time!

Weighing once a week is a way to help us not get too anxious about fluctuations that might not mean much. However, if you try to keep things as comparable as possible and then see a nice difference in the scales - celebrate!! 10 pounds in a week is certainly possible. It's not something you could expect to keep doing, but a big initial drop in weight is not uncommon and as you rightly said, might be partly due to you having less food in your body, also, changing your diet might have affected how much fluid you retain. Also, if you have cut out a heap of junk - you can expect to lose real weight! If you eat carefully from here on in there's no reason the pounds should come back - and that will be a real loss. :D

If you are under 1000 calories a day, then I have to endorse Lukewarm's comments. It's not enough and after a while can make your body start fighting your weight loss. I used to aim for super low calorie diets, get big losses and then end up overeating on the rebound until I was eventually bigger than before. I reckon my low calorie diets were a big contributor to my early shift from around 8 stone to around 10 stone, 10-12 years down the track. Of course I then went on to do even more damage but I truly think the diets were significant and counter productive.

Yay for the Paintballer's Ball. What an exciting way to celebrate the new you in style and show off your successful changes! (Don't be scared, it can be fun!!) :)

And after all that -

Hey the scales are on your side!

10 pounds!!!!!!!!!

Woohooooooo!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations!!

oh i didn't even read that well the post before the hyperventilation.
Lena

No that was me hypreventilating over the panic of the dress wearing ;)

I do appreciate your care, and now intend upping my daily intake, i guess i'm just keen, and perhaps my brain was in the wrong place.

I intend looking at a few more diet guides as suggested, and i think i will still weigh myself only once a week.

All in all, thank you for the congrats, i feel i can relax a little more now, and not mission so much, i proved my determination i guess.

I'm back, and i'm so sorry i wasn't here for so long. :(

Life went a bit topsy turvy, but i'm here and back on track!!!

With the life topsy turvying i even managed to only put on 2 pounds despite eating all the comfort food i could lay my hands on :)
