Which of these workout techniques is better?

Hey so i'm doing a FBW 3 times a week. I'm not ectomorph as i don't have the flat chest and im not tall (5ft 7) but i can never gain weight.

I've got a question on sets and reps... note: the weight number are just made up for purpose of asking the question:

Would it be better to do say 3 sets:
set 1: 12 reps: weight that makes it hard to complete 12th rep (say 10kg)
set 2: 10 reps: a heavier weight (say 12.5)
set 3: 8 reps: an even heavier weight (say 15kg)

or would this be better:
set 1: 10 reps: say 15kg
set 2: 10 reps: say 15kg or more

in other words... is it better to do 3 sets building up the weight or do two super intense sets?

Both would work with the right level of application, if weight gain is what you're looking for then look at your calorie intake first. Everyone can gain weight, it's just that some people need to put more effort into eating enough

What your aim strength or size?

What happened to the gud ol orthodox 3 sets 8-10 reps ;)

Both but mainly size.

Well the 3 set method doesn't seem as intense... i could work so hard on the first 2 sets that i would not be able to do a 3rd set... is that not better that 3less intense sets?

Depends on your goals :)

I lot of people go for 3x10 when aiming for hypertrophy and lower the number of reps/sets when going for strength. The two aren't exclusive from each other though. However if you're going to be performing sets of 10 it might be a good idea to do 3 sets to make sure the volume is high enough
