which carbs are the best while cutting?

Guys,

Im on a cutting diet, cycling carbs, doing HIIT and compound weights on alternate days. Im 220 lb 193cm (6'4) and about 18% BF.

Was casually reading threads in this section and came across a recommendation that while cutting and aiming to loose serious weight (i.e not someone who has plenty of muscle and is trying to loose the last 5kg, which I am not) you should stay away from carbs like potatoes, rice, etc. and stick to vegetable carbs. And only 1 cup of oats per day.

Can anyone explain if/how this is true and would they recommend it.

At the moment I use wholegrain rice sometimes on high carb days (about 150g per day)

Also, where do you think peanut butter (if at all) should be in my diet? At the moment im eating about 1tsp post workout with whey protein shake

Thanks

You should be eating complex carbs early in the day. I'd say that peanut butter might be good in the morning. (Peanut butter must be NATURAL)
I would recommend you get carbs from sweet potatoes and brown rice. Bread, starchy carb, is not really recommended on a cut. Especially white. I think whole wheat is alright as long as it doesn't become a staple in your diet. Some carbs from fruit are good but I don't think fruit that's TOO high in GI are recommended.

I would recommended you stay away completely from white bread, white rice. They are highly processed.

Are you trying to lose weight in general or trying to lose fat?

It would help to post up your entire diet, all of the specifics too, not just "sandwich" or "salad" but exactly what is in it. Your workout and what time it is would help, too...
