whey protein isolate vs concentrate

ok so Im in the health food shop today to pick up a replacement whey protein and I notice that I am buying whey concentrate, while there is an alternative whey isolate on the shelf. Theres a blurb on the shelf, typed by the store owner, that basically says that the concentrate is for general use while the isolate is for 'serious bodybuilders'

Anyone know the real difference?

difference is how they get processed, and the final end quality of the protein.

your best bet is to get a blended protein that contains one or more kinds of whey, and casein protein.

I prefer Nitrean by due to cost, flavor, and over all quality. it also mixes easily, a bonus for working in an office.

If you're not a competitive BBer, you don't need it, and I'd say even the competitive crowd might not benefit greatly from it. It's got a few extra g of protein, less lactose (making it better for the lactose intolerant), perhaps better biolavailbility. But get this:

If you're eating a proper diet, you'll have plenty of amino acids swimming around in your blood ready for the body to start incorporating it into the muscle during the workout.

Personally, I think such hype is utter bullsh*t. Never, never believe the commercial. Ask around (as you are doing) and talk to nutritional experts. John Berardi is a good guy, but I think Alan Aragon is a serious bullsh*t pointer ("Watch out! Don't step there.").
