Hi guys,
I'm here to try and get some motivation, so I'll give a short back story. I used to be a reasonably healthy weight, playing football a couple of times a week, and generally staying in shape. Then about 5 years ago I tore my ACL, but took a full year to be diagnosed. This meant that it was 18 months from injury until I could get back to sports! All good... except it was only 3 weeks back before I tore my other ACL... which took longer to heal due to my other leg being less able to take up the slack. This ended up putting me out for nearly another year. So with 2.5 years of very little cardio activity, my weight went up pretty quickly to around 18 stone! For 2 years I pretty much accepted my new body and had very little motivation to get back to my old ways, then about 6 months ago I decided it was time, started running in the evenings and eating healthier, dropping my weight to around 16 stone now.
I'm a pretty strong guy, there's some muscle under there somewhere, but its not getting its chance to show... the problem is I can't run as regularly as I would like because a year of continuing to play football on a torn ACL has royally buggered it, so twice a week is my limit really (my work would begin to be affected if I ran any more).
So I'm looking for some advice, I need something I can do that wont stress my knee, can be done in a studio flat or surrounding areas (no parks too nearby) and is ideally free. My big thing is my diet, although it's better than it was, it's still not great, and will be getting a proper overhaul as of right now, but I'd like to be able compliment that with some more exercise.
One more thing is pills... normally I wouldn't go near them and would assume they are a waste of money (I may be right or wrong) but I have been given 'AlphaGENIX' and 'Pure Muscle Pro', which are supposed to aid weight loss when combined with exercise. Anyone heard of them, tried them or recommend them? Or should I just chuck them and carry on without?
Thanks for reading, and if anyone is in the Surbiton (south London) area and wants to meet up to offer mutual motivation then drop me a message!
Matt
