When you gain a pound or 2

So I was wonder what factors, factor in when you fluctuate with your weight.
For example:

I weight myself on sunday, still 190.5 and I said to myself "WHAT THE HELL AM I DOING WRONG?" Ive been eating good and exercising drinking lots of water, blah blah blah! and not losing and more weight!!! And then today I went to weigh myself it was 193!!! I was SO pissed! It really put me down! Im doing all this hard work and it doesnt seem to be paying off! Why the hell did i gain weight in 3 days!! I was being very good!!!!! How do I not let myself down! I feel like giving up sometimes! And if im just destined to be the "fat girl"

A lot of things can factor in to a gain that isn't a real 'weight' gain. Sodium or other things can cause water weight gain, an undigested meal still sitting in your stomach, etc. That's why it's not good for some people to weigh themselves every day. YOu have to understand and ACCEPT these fluctuations as normal, and not take them as gospel, kwim?

What I do is...

Good morning,

After 9+ months of my lifestyle change, I think I've run thru just about every possible emotion possible wrt weight loss/gain.

During one failed weight loss attempt a few years ago, I naively went by the scale...and after a major weight lifting/exercising session, weighed myself at the gym to discover I had gained a pound. This thoroughly depressed me and I abandoned all hope. I subsequently gained another 15 or so pounds.

Zoom to today - I 'm confident enough in how my body works and operates that any weight gain makes me say, okay, these things happen, let's up the activity for the next few days, and then weigh myself again at the end of the week. Except during my plateau times, I can honestly say I've never been disappointed by what the scale said.

Water retention, that time of month, increase of muscle, etc.....these can all lead to a weight gain. Don't go by the scale - go instead by the inches lost. It's a much easier way of really staying the path (in my opinion).

Hope that helps,

iaf
