Hi there,
I am 5'8 and 185 pounds at age 28. This is 10 pounds heavier than the heaviest I have ever been:( I started a really stressful job one year ago. I finally became tired of the weight I had become and started working out 3-4 days a week for about a month and a half now. I have limited my calories to 1800 calories a day, and about a week ago I quit drinking the diet pop that I loved and went to drinking 1/2 to a whole gallon of water a day. Still at 185 pounds, with no lose!!!!! I was drinking the same amount of water and about 2-3 diet pops a day. I have never had this much trouble losing weight once I put my mind to it. This time it is impossible...I am so frustrated! It is like my metabolism needs a big kick in the behind! I never thought I would be almost 30 and still be worrying about my weight all the time!
Any advice???

How are you keeping track of your calories? Are you sure you're weighing and measuring everything you're eating?

Are you tracking other nutrients like fiber/sodium/etc..

What does yourfood plan look like?

Are you seeing changes in m easurements, how your clothes are fitting, Etc?

welcome to the site.. .sometimes things just take time...

Hi Tiffin,

There is a possibility your body has gone into self-preservation mode due to extreme restricition of calories. This means your metabolism will virtually stop as your body prepares for pending starvation. The cure for this is to eat more.

If you are working out a lot you may also be bulking up. Muscle is heavier than fat.

I learnt to rely on the tape measure rather than the scales, when I was working out. Its a much better reflection of whats actually going on.
