When is it good to workout?

Guys, I've always thought that there's a certain time of the day that a workout, whether cardio, aerobics or weightlifting, is more effective. I've read in some sources that to burn fat, you have to do some cardio as sson as you wake up because it burns stored fat itself, whereas when you work out at night, you only burn the food that you consumed for the day and not really the stored fat, but I'm not sure about this so I'm here for another opinion.

So my question is, when is it actually good to workout that is good enough to give you results, morning, afternoon or before bedtime?

Bottom line... When it is convenient for you... All strength training is going to have an effect, assuming you are doing it right i.e. applying the rules of progressive overload, eating the correct nutrition etc.

Seems to me that when to do at least cardio depends on the person. I can't be bothered to get up in the morning, since I don't go to work until 5pm. So scheduling a morning exercise session is laughable to me. I do my best working out, cardio and what little weight lifting I can do at home for now in the evening, after work and dinner and all of that, pretty much before I go to bed.

A friend of mine does hers in the morning cause she feels like it pumps her up and gives her energy during the day. Then again she says doing it at 1 am or so jazzes her up so she can't sleep.

Ah, atleast I'll still have results even if I do it before bedtime. Thanks guys, anymore opinions?

I'm no expert, so I can only tell ya what I know from personal experience, which is basically what the others are saying, run whenever your body feels like running. Whether you run first thing in the morning on an empty stomach to try and target the fat, or run right after a meal to burn up what's in your stomach.. to me it's all a means to the same end, might as well just do it when your body wants instead of forcing yourself to wake and sleep at odd hours just to fit a schedule.

I like being able to sleep for a few hours right after my workouts, seems to give the body time to really get down to the repair process right away, so you'll rarely ever catch me working out before 2pm. Normal workout time for me is from 4-7pm, but that's just me.

Don't listen to that BS about having to run on an empty stomach at dark o'clock to have optimal results.

I don't know about it being more or less efficient but I find if I work out hard after 5pm, I have more trouble getting to sleep than I normally do. It's also more convenient for me to work out at lunchtime before I eat. I don't think it's more efficient to work out on an empty stomach; I do so because if I work out on a full stomach, I feel ill afterwards.
