What's your frame size

Determining frame size:To determine the body frame size, measure the wrist with a tape measure and use the following chart to determine whether the person is small, medium, or large boned.

Women:
  • height under 5'2"
    • small = wrist size less than 5.5"
    • medium = wrist size 5.5" to 5.75"
    • large = wrist size over 5.75"
  • height 5'2" to 5' 5"
    • small = wrist size less than 6"
    • medium = wrist size 6" to 6.25"
    • large = wrist size over 6.25"
  • height over 5' 5"
    • small = wrist size less than 6.25"
    • medium = wrist size 6.25" to 6.5"
    • large = wrist size over 6.5"
Men:
  • height over 5' 5"
    • small = wrist size 5.5" to 6.5"
    • medium = wrist size 6.5" to 7.5"
    • large = wrist size over 7.5"
So... Cartman was right.. I'm not fat, I'm big boned :D

I'm 5'8" with a 6 inch wrist, that means I have a small frame, I always thought I was a medium frame.

Hmm, so Mal, does BMI and all that stuff take your frame size into consideration? I would imagine that an estimated healthy weight for a person my height with a medium or large frame size is different, right...or no?

That thing is great...though the reply sucks! They tried to be nice about it, but they're saying I'm too big. lol But it's good to know that my goal is within the proper parameters.

Your Results:

Based on your height, your ideal weight range is between 126 and 139 pounds.

According to the information you have entered, your weight may be above your ideal weight range.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction HF!

I've always figured I had a large frame, which would explain why I was always slimmer than some of my friends who were taller and weighed less than me. I'm 5'3", and my wrist is about 6.75" (little more, but it doesn't even matter at that point XD) Nobody EVER believes I'm over 200 pounds.

Apparently I'm big boned!!! I'd have guessed I was small boned, I've always thought my wrists and ankles were small, but my wrists are 15cm (just under 6 inches I think). My ideal weight is higher than I think it should be. Before I'd ever considered dieting and ate and drank what I want, I was 11 pounds under that goal weight. I'm still under it now, but I've got a squishy tummy now (hehe), so I'm planning on losing weight. Confused now!

whoops, I got it wrong. I'm small framed, haha, I automatically assumed I was in the lowest height range, but I wasn't. Makes a bit more sense now! :)

Hmm...

I guess I'm a sasquatch.. Err, I mean large boned! I am 5'9 and my wrists are 7 1/2 inches.. Thanks alot mom & dad! :p lol - This is what Fitness Online told me:

Your Results:

Based on your height, your ideal weight range is between 149 and 170 pounds.

Hmmm this is what I got:

Based on your height, your ideal weight range is between 108 and 121 pounds.

According to the information you have entered, your weight is within your ideal weight range.

So it seems that I just need to tone up rather than trying to lose weight. Btw the weight I put in is 112lbs. Hmmm but then again I was 96lbs (bmi = 20) before and I wasn't skinny then, just normal, slim, but not skinny. Haha..

i had forgotten about this thread - just for grins i measured my wrist again - and it's gotten smaller - i'm still big boned but in another 100 lbs - wonder if that will be the same :)

Wrist is now 7" - and my 8" bracelet keeps sliding off my wrist - it's become my new worry stone

I am 5'4" and 5-3/4" wrist...makes me small framed...hmmm. my range is 114-127...and that sounds about right...so my goal is pretty straight on.

What? I'm small-framed?

I thought my wrists were thicker than average, but I always just assumed that being overweight went along with having a big frame, but I guess I can no longer use the excuse that I'm just big-boned.

//edit: hold on, my left wrist says I'm small-framed, my right says I'm medium.
