To your average person, what Chris has his contestants do to lose weight may make sense; work out real hard at the gym and eat less food. However what few may realize is just how much less food! Chris' website advises people to run a calorie deficit of 500 to 1000 calories below their basal metabolic rate, or the amount of calorie your body needs just to function. But combining this calorie deficit with the amount of intense physical training he demands in unhealthy and unsustainable.
Chris has the mistaken belief that a calorie is a calorie, regardless of whether it's from a Big Mac or organic bananas. It's this mistaken belief that makes Chris force his clients to eat such a dangerously low calorie diet. As this video shows, if you don't eat enough calories, life becomes full of sadness, depression, and constant thoughts of giving up! No surprise since your body isn't exactly pleased with constantly being underfed and not having enough energy to perform all that is demanded of it.
