What to eat???

I usually NEVER have time to get a good balanced breakfest. So I stop at starbucks and get a muffin or a donut... I know it's bad, but if I don't eat anything in the morning, I feel so light headed.
What I'm wanting to know is... what can I eat in the mornings, and through out the day that will be healthy for me?
I've tried numerous web sites to kinda guide me, but that has not been a success. When is the right time to eat and what snacks should I eat?

Any advice on working out or healthy foods? It's so hard cause my better half LOVES the bad food, and he does't gain anything!!! As for me, I'm the one who has to suffer! I use to be thinner a year ago... I just don't know why I gained so much weight this year!!

I'd really appreciate it if you spent some time and read the stickies.

They're there to answer the basic questions you're asking.

There's no right or wrong time to eat. The important thing is getting the right amount of calories and nutrients. When they come in during the day isn't as important.

If you feel it's necessary to get your meals from a restaurant, that's simply poor planning on your part.

Sometimes it is more difficult for some people to even get 10 mins in the morning to organize their breakfast. Lets see, some people may have 5 children, some may have a disability, may care for someone with a disability, the list can go on.

You don't need to explain why your reasons are that you lack time. So maybe you could fit in time of an evening to plan your meals or on a weekend and possibly freeze things.

You don't have to necessarily eat typical breakfast foods. You could down a cup of homemade vege soup, premake a salad/tuna wrap to eat on the way to where ever you are going, have a premade smoothie, premade healthy muffins. And how about a cup of tea to take with you in a special cup.

It will save you time and money if you try some of these ideas. I am not a breakfast person, things are hectic most mornings in my house and I have to run around the house and eat while I do a million things. I plan everything 24 hrs in advance or I get up at 4 am.

It can be done. And once you get used to it, it's a lot more manageable.

Heres an idea

Well breakfast is the most important meal of the day and if you dont have time for a good meal, why not just chuck a banana and some skim milk in a blender. (or any fruit of choice)

A smoothie will not only help keep you full, but the fruit is packed full vitmains which will help you burn fat throughout the day, because of the increased metabolism. You cant miss breakfast, its the best and most important meal of the day. A smoothie is a great start

Hope that helps

If you are looking for healthy food in the morning, the options are endless. In the time it takes you to stop and get that coffee and muffin you can probably have a eaten a lot healthier.

Fruit, hard boiled eggs, natty PB sandwich, chicken, oatmeal...i could go on and on.

Believe me, everyone is busy. I personally have to get two kids up and out the door before 6:00 am so i can be to work by 7:00. I always boil a dzen eggs on sunday for the week. I cook up chicken and have that available. Make a PB sandwich. Time management is the key to eating healthy. When we are not prepared we reach for the easiest items, drive thrus and vending machines. There is no reason you cant prepare it the night before.

I feel your pain. Here's how I dealt with my issues... Simply put I just decided I would not eat out anymore. Period. I did some grocery shopping and stacked on the fruits and veggies and cereals with whole grains. So thats what I have for breakfast. It only takes about 10-15 extra minutes in the morning to prepar a healthy breakfast (if even that)

While I don't think eating breakfast will increase your metabolism, it will break the 8 hour fast you've been in while sleeping and provide you with the energy to start the day. Some fast healthy options are:
-Eggs and fruit
-Cottage cheese and berries
-Yogurt

The important thing is to include a lean protein source as well as some fruit to replenish your liver glycogen.

Hope this helps!

Troy.

if you want quick and easy, i vote muesli bars.
I usually pick the most natural with least fat (nuts & fruit). However the shops have had for years breakfast in a box style drinks, i think you choose the starbucks out of habit and because you want too.

I very much doubt it would be faster going into a shop and waiting in a queue than it would throwing milk and cereal into a bowl and eating it before leaving.

I start off every day with a Fiber One bar. Peanut butter to be exact. I guess being in weight watchers really makes me pay attention to my fiber intake. I will also have a banana and and apple.

I did find my blender recently and I think I am going to make blended shake in the mornings. Milk, protein power, flaxseed oil, banana, and some powered peanut butter.

I also rush out of the house in the mornings, but I have my food ready to go -- preparation is the key.

I normally grab a yogurt, ham slices, and carrot sticks. At work, I have granola bars already at my desk (for those hunger pangs), and a case of water.

It comes out to approximately 350 calories for all of that, and it keeps me snacking/full until lunchtime.

Breakfast is really important -- I wouldn't be able to work if I don't eat.

So I stop at starbucks and get a muffin or a donut

When is the right time to eat and what snacks should I eat?

Don't make your life so complicated. Slow down and enjoy it, you only get one chance after all.

Like someone else said: STOP EATING OUT.

Lots of very simple, fast, and nutritional food out there--milk, toast, eggs, margarine etc etc.

Avoid refined sugar--it really is a killer (pleasant and alluring but deadly)--use Spenda instead.

Find out what your BMR is, determine your idea weight, and then eat throughout the day--spreading out your meals makes weight loss easier and more pleasant--up to your allowable caloric intake (if maintaining) or slighlty less (100 to 200 cal less) if you want to lose.

PS: Increase your knowledge, about food, one day at a time, nice and easy--you got your whole life to do it in.
