Hi all

I was advised to add strength training to my exercise routine, and have been doing this for a little over a week.

I am now at the point of where I would like a strength training DVD to be able to follow.

I was browsing Google and I came across a couple of strength building DVDs but of all of them there was a lady called Tamilee, the clips are great but I would like to own the DVD so I can do the full workout instead of clips on the computer.

My questions are:

As I am not from the USA where can I puchase her DVD?
I have been told that my DVD played may not read the US discs.

Also if anybody can suggest workouts simular to Tamilee?
I don't mind which one I get, as long as I enjoy the workout and it does the job :)

Thanks for reading.

Regards
Minimee

I'm not sure - I often just go to youtube and look at the free videos for examples.

I have heard that Ripptoe's Starting Strength DVD is good and is available on Amazon...

His involves barbells and stuff though, and as I have no idea what Tamilee's are like I can't say if they are similar at all or not :)

Thanks for the suggestion, I will have a look for it.

Do you happen to know what a good amount of strength training and cardio is?
I am still trying to find the right balance in the two.
I keep reading that you can overdo the cardio and not get the benefits of it.

I appreciate any input on this as It's driving me insane not knowing if I am going the right way about it.

Thanks

My friend has recommended Jillian Michaels 30Day shred and I've been using Barry's Bootcamp. They both have a cardio-strength mix

I started with Body For Life. Ten years ago. There is a website (just google it) and it will show you the program. I did not do the nutrition plan they have though (I'm a lowcarber). I eventually bought the book (and bought the original one, not the 'one for women' which doesn't work so well). I went on to purchase also 'New Rules of Lifting for Women'.

I started my training with three pairs of dumbells and a coffee table (I have a real bench now, lol).

You can do it! Best of luck to you

Thank you for the replys.

I will be sure to Google everything that has been mentioned and hopefully find a balance of the two.

Thanks again everyone, I really appreciate it.
:D

I really like Group RX-RIP.

Not sure if it is available in a format that you can use on your DVD - but you could certainly look into it if it appeals to you! I am not sure if it is available to the general public or not (you might have to be a fitness instructor).
