What is your "WHY"??

For many years there has been a more healthier & slimmer person inside me that has been trapped by the daily grudge of life. The time has now come to set that person free once and for all.
 
For the most part I have always been healthy and fit. During 07 I was working long hours and barely making rent in Los Angelos so my fiance and I were eating a lot of cheap unhealthy food. We both gained significant weight (I cant imagine the rate in which we gained was healthy). When we found out we were having a baby things changed for us. We moved back to San Diego to live with some family and save money and decided that our health is just as important as our sons. We wanted to start now so that we can maintain a healthy lifestyle for ourselves and out son. So far I have lost about 15lbs since joining the site and my fiance has lost about 15 since giving birth in April.

Ironically it wasn't until I gave up on ever fitting into my skinny clothes again that I lost weight. Of course I had given them all to salvation army by then. lol

Seriously it was seeing the number 200 on the scale that scared me into losing weight.
 
As mentioned before in this thread, my main two "Why's" are to be happy with what I see in the mirror/happy to try on new clothes, AND small health issue of having fatty tissue of the liver.

I wanted to avoid surgery of my gall bladder, this meant I had to cut out all the fatty foods

A few years ago during a screening for something entirely different, they found a gallstone the size of a walnut. Funny thing, it never bothered me. There was a handful of times I had what I thought was cramping, but nothing terrible. Guess it never got agitated because I don't really eat fatty foods- my weight issue is more due to portion than types of foods. Anyway, I had the surgery as they warned me that risks are of it bursting and causing infection when I least expected it should be avoided. The procedure was outpatient/laperscopic and I never needed the pain med prescribed. BE CAREFUL THO, and take it easy! A week after the procedure I had extreme pain and had to be taken to the ER as appearantly bile was leaking into my abdomen. They couldn't repair it at that hospital, and had to be transported and after 3 more days, the repair was done.

So my advise is: should you need the gall bladder out, please take it easy and don't overdue at home-even though you think you are feeling up to it. And don't let your sister/family make you laugh- it really hurts!

I want to lose weight so I can be told I'm beautiful.

The seems pretty vain, but I've always heard my mom say how beautiful other girls were, especially this one red head my age, but she doesn't compliment my looks. It makes me feel terrible. It makes me jealous of my seven year old sister. My mom always tells her she's beautiful, but, I guess it's silly to be jealous of a little girl.
 
This is a fun and inspiring thread.

My journey started in an attempt to improve my health. I was diagnosed with PCOS and have symptoms affecting my skin and hair, among other things. It is my hope that once I am at a healthy weight and sustaining it, my symptoms will abate. So far my hormones have apparently balanced out (with the help of meds), but my hair is still falling out, etc.

I am extremely pleased with my weight loss so far and feel simply WONDERFUL about going from size 16/18 down to as low as a 5/6! :biggrinjester:
