What Is Your Reason Today?

I ran yesterday for the first time (since I was a kid). It was only 5.5mph for 16 minutes, but everyone has to start somewhere, I guess.

Going Home From Work!!

Not that I didn't go home before....

At the beginning I would take the subway to a stop a couple kilometers from home, then take a cab from there. Cost me about 20RMB (2.50US) and about 1.5 hours (catching a cab or bus at rush hour is hell)

Then I started taking the subway and walking 3X a week. Took me 30 minutes on the subway (jammed with people) and 40 minutes walking. 20RMB when cabbing. 4RMB when walking.

Then I started taking the subway and walking everyday, but it became 30 minutes and wasnt so painful 4RMB per day.

Then I started getting off the subway 1 stop early and walking every day. 2RMB

Then I started walking home all the way from work (6km) 2-3 times a week (2RMB when taking subways) 1.2 -1.5 hours walking

Then I started walking everyday without fail, rain or shine. 0rmb and 50 minutes.

Slowly but surely started running a couple days a week. 40 minutes 0RMB

Now, I run home everyday 6km. Not only is it free (0RMB) but I am making it home in 25 minutes. The best part is I see the crowded subways and busses packed to capicity with hot, stinky, sweaty, grumpy people, and I am outside with my MP3 player on running with a smile on my face knowing not only am I saving money, but I will get home faster than they will!!!

Wooooo Hoooo!!

Running used to be a dream (or perhaps nightmare) for me. Now it is a rock solid reality that saves me time and money and is getting me closer to my goals than ever before!!!!!

I can wear jeans again...comfortably...and with out unbuttoning them when I sit down. I actually went out of the house yesterday with out some sort of jacket and or huge t-shirt that I was trying to hide in. Also, the other day when I went to the drug store, I was actually able to look in the little mirrors they provide when I was picking out sun glasses, without cringing at "the double chin that ate Tokyo" staring back at me. It was pretty nice.

Oh and my back doesn't hurt anymore when I sort the laundry.

When I woke up this morning I realized my hipbones stick out past my belly when I am lying on my back.
I missed you hipbones. Welcome back!

Looking at my pedometer as I left the park and I started to turn off into my neighborhood and said crap - ONLY 5.5 miles and stayed in the park and added on another 1.25 miles... My time still sucks but it's improving...

Haha my hipbones are back too I love it. I normally get excited once the warm weather hits but this year I'm really excited ;).
