I voted for peas. But I also love onion (especially red- mmmm), mushroom and sweetcorn. All four together with pasta and some soy sauce is delicious!!

I've never really 'got' asparagus :). It's so expensive fresh and on the rare occasion that I've had it I've not really known what to do with it. Certainly I've never made it taste of anything special .. perhaps I am doing something wrong?!

BTW I am moving soon to a place that will have a garden. I realise that this is the wrong time of year to start planting really but I was hoping next year at least to start growing my own veg. I've vaguely tried it before when living with my ex before the latest ex with extremely mixed results ;). Am a real amateur still tho.

depending on the soil, some veggies are easier to grow than others... strawberries tend to grow like weeds but you usually have to fight the bunnies and other vermin for them first :)

spinach and some lettuces are pretty easy to grow as well (not iceberg, but rocket or some other greens... )

If you've got a good window,or at least decent light, you can grow fresh herbs inside all winter long.

it's incredibly good, grilled, brushed with olive oil and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice and maybe some shaved paramesan cheese... but it's gotta be fresh asparagus - the canned stuff is just mushy grossness.

Heh if I put olive oil and parmasen on my asparagus, mightn't I be just as well off calorie wise having a cheeseburger? :D

I've got a friend who's offered to give me strawberry runners .. I'd love to grow my own.

What about winter veg, parsnips and sprouts? Can I still sew them in October?

not even a little bit... moderation - i didnt say put a cup of olive oil or a pound of parmesan cheese...

a tsp of olive oil is all you need and that's barely 100 calories - parmesan cheese is also about 25 calories or so a tablespoon and it's so strong you don't need more than that... big flavors require small quantities and you get a lot of bang for your calorie buck.

thank you *goes to look*
