What is best time to exercise?

What time of day yields the best results from exercise? My home gym exercise is varied daily, but typically the 30-45 minutes consists of a mixture of treadmill, elliptical, recumbant bicycle, and/or yoga. I've just joined a fitness center to add an additonal weight training component. Is exercising best done in the morning (5:30am before work) or between supper and bedtime? FYI - I am a 43 year old female wanting to drop about 20 pounds.

Lately I started in the morning. That way if I have plans after work I don't have to rush through them to exercise. It gets it done and gives you less of a chance to get too caught up in other things to not do it.

The time that you're able to commit to with the most consistency and fits your schedule the best..

I agree with Steve. I do mine at 5am, only because I know I'm going to be tired after work and not want to go. It also gives me my energy for the day. Some people don't like to excersise late because they won't go to sleep, but not me, I can always fall down in the bed after I work out.

As long as you do it on a regular basis, it doesn't really matter. Any excersise at any time is better than no excersise.

I do mine in the morning only because that fits with my schedule right now.

I think, like Steve said, anytime is a good time and I don't think that any one time will yield better results.

It depends how your body and mind responds. For me I try to do planned exercise twice a day, morning and night. It makes me feel really energized and so positive.

Once a day is not enough for me. I prefer two shorter training sessions if I can fit them in.
