What i use..

I started using something called "The Greatest Vitamin in the World" which sounds kind of funky but has served me well recently.... I started taking it about a month ago and i alreayd feel like i made a good choice

It takes to long to type out the ingrediants so check it out on the site that thwey sell it at..

lol i know its a long name but it is well worth it.. I was sceptical at first but hey if you dont like it you get ur money back...

Hit me up with some feedback

anyone check out the site? any feed back... does anyone think the price was to high?

Wow, an online infomercial site.

Honestly I doubt they are anything special. I can't say for sure because I can't find the actual supplement facts/ingredients anywhere.

And the 'online video' features that Don Lapre guy...wait...didn't he used to do real estate infomercials at midnight? now he's pushing vitamins.

Hmmmm....sounds like way more hype than its worth. I think you paid too much, but, I've seen much worse rip-offs (like over $100 a month for a vitamin combo that was just a multi-vite with some fish oil caps)

well the thing i liked about it was that it had moneyback guarentee so i had no real repercussion....

but i thought i would give it a try since the idiots would put something like "The worlds greatest"... to really see if it was what it says....

Which i dont know about the worlds greatest... but i can say one thing, they do work really well.. i have felt better and more energenic.. i suggest trying it for the 30 day trial and if you dont like it then get your money back....

but i figured i would throw it out there since it has worked well for me

well, I see a daily vitamin as an insurance policy. my diet SHOULD be covering all my important vitamins/minerals. but just in case, i have my multi.

that's the real reason I don't see a need for the 'greatest vitamin in the world'. i strive for the greatest balanced diet in the world instead.

who has highspeed internet?

Well if you do none of you watched the video that explains it all...
It helps digestion of food for one.. Its not made of sinthetic crap... and there is alot more explination in the video if you would watch it....

It may look like a gimmick but thats what i though until i tried it..

Please don't critisize things unless you have tried it...
If you have tried this product then go right on ahead and tell me your thoughts...

I use dial up with a non-windows OS and purposely did not install plug-ins on my browser, therefore I won't be looking.

However, when choosing a vitamin make sure to get an ingredients list. Also, make sure that the list does not contain MANMADE RADIOACTIVE ELEMENTS. Lots of MLMs like to pass these as trace elements that your body "needs".

Ummm...right. How can your body NEED them if they didn't exist 75 years ago?

In addition to the elements, make sure the silica (sand) base most use isn't there, but if it is, the final test is to put it into a glass of water. If after 10 minues, the stuff is looking like a shredded wheat puff, then you know it breaks down like food in your system and you get something out of it.

Otherwise, steer clear.

Good luck!

dang maybe i'll have to send you one of thier videos... or why dont you try one of the samples for 30 days like i did?... and if not then get ur money back

You seem to be pushing this amazing product pretty hard. Being there is a name/id tagline at the end I smell salesman/affilate otherwise you would have put just the site address.

As far as the product goes it seems to have alot of un-needed and some sketchy ingredients.

Ok, then.

I am never one to shun something without proper data, so I'll bite. I am going to the link to check it out.

However, I never purchase, much less ingest anything unless I know what it is.

actually nope.. try the just by itself... there is no way to purchase it that way or even see anything... but the one i listed was one that i was reffered to.... although, i am looking into the salesman/affilate part... it has some interesting stuff on there ... later i might try and sell it but for now i am just trying it out myself... looks like the salesman make decent wages....

Ok.

I checked it out.

-And you wanted to push it so hard, now I am going to give you my opinion of thumbs up or thumbs down.

The above states the quantities in amounts PER SERVING. It also states you need 9 pills per day. This is important -we will come back to it.

1. The vitamin breaks down well.
2. It appears to be natural enough to pass for food in the system.
3. It doesn't have a lot of things others have like soy and such. -Good.

But here is the bottom line.

THE PRODUCT IS A HEALTH HAZZARD.

If your elderly mom/pregnant wife/vison impared friend wanted to take the vitamin, would you let them?

This product contains GARLIC.
This product contains GINKO.
This product contains LUTEIN.

Now let's review this. If the vitamin contained pharmaceutical blood thinners, would you take it?

Garlic and Ginko are blood thinners. -Sure they are herbs, and healthy, but they are blood thinners. To many women, (at least once per month), this poses a health risk. In many men who have thin blood, this is a risk too if injured. -No clotting.

Then you have lutein. This helps your eyes. If you have an elderly person with macular degeneration, and give lutein, the optical health should improve. -HOWEVER.....add those blood thinners. How sturdy are the vessels in the optical region on an elderly patient with macular degeneration? Bleeding from the eyes is not something I want on MY conscience.

And, just for fun: Milk Thistle. This stimulates the liver to help rid the body of toxins. And what if you are an alcoholic with liver problems, or just happen to have other conditions of the liver? Internal bleeding potential with the thinners?

The point here is that a multivitamin has NO PLACE sticking herbs or medicines in its formula.

I am a BIG advocate of herbs over medicines. -However they are both TREATMENTS to health conditions. -AND NEED TO BE TREATED AS SUCH.

Anyone taking this vitamin begs for health problems due to the herbal content. Any company with a conscience (or a clue) would never mix herbs and vitamins unless specifically to treat a particular condition.

Now we have MORE FUN. -Remember this amount PER SERVING?

The garlic alone has 1/10 the amount of a standard effective dose of garlic as a medical treatment. -PER SERVING. Either each pill is one serving, so you get a full medical dose of herbs in a day (health hazzard, big time), or you get not enough to do much of anything at all because the amount across 9 tablets is so little (1/10 of a dosage) that it is irrelevant and you are being sold a false bill of goods.

So either the herbs do NOTHING, or they do way too much and are harmful.

Nice.

And they say this is safe for everyone -even kids, and the GREATEST IN THE WORLD?

These guys have a big thumbs down from me.

wow

wow, good job on the research and the follow up.. i think i will talk to the company and have some discussions...

You have really opened up my eyes..

Now i have a question for you.
Would you take it?

Lets say a healthy male in their 20's with no health problems wanted to take this would you recommend it?

You have been a great help to me and the others that have read these boards...

You have really opened up my eyes..

Thanks!

Now i have a question for you.
Would you take it?

Lets say a healthy male in their 20's with no health problems wanted to take this would you recommend it?

Well, let me start by saying this:

I have a pretty wide selection of herbs sitting in my "medicine" storage. If I had to guess, I would say I have about 12-15 herbs in capsules, and probably another 10 or so in liquid form. I also have many books on medicinal herb usage, I have chemical analysis breakdowns of medicinal properties of herbs, etc.

That being said, I keep these herbs for their intended use: MEDICINE.

I also do not believe medicine should ever be used unless no other means exists to fix the issue.

I take a multivitamin when my physical and mental stress needs are higher than normal. I try not to take even that, but eat as healthy and as many whole foods as I can. In my personal case, I have a few health issues which demand a higher than normal B complex in my system. -Even so, I try not to always take the vitamins. I want my body to get what I need as naturally as possible.

When this GVW product comes to light, I see several barriers:

1. Medicine will be taken regularly without cause.

This means the body functions differently for no good reason and now becomes dependent and starts to open its self up to side effects.

2. Medicine is being taken WITH vitamin amounts, which, in some people's health status could be deadly.

In my case, I have thick blood. -But I live at 4500ft above sea level. Nose bleeds happen up here. If I took a blood thinner in my vitamin, pushed weights, and started breathing hard through my nose, I could get a nosebleed that wouldn't stop. -And yes, people CAN die of nosebleeds if their blood doesn't clot.

Therefore, even if someone is in perfect health I see an issue:

Nobody knows what they do not know (hidden dangers) about their health and environment.

On top of that, they are taking extra stuff for NO REASON.

If you want to be healthy, why risk it? It makes no sense.

-And as a person giving advice to others, I find it unethical to ever suggest someone do something which is clearly dangerous.

Therefore, not only would I not take it, I would never recommend ANYONE take it.

You have been a great help to me and the others that have read these boards...

Thanks for the compliment, but I am just another schmuck that knows a fraction of an area a lot of OTHER people know a little about. We all have our knowledge about our specialties, and nobody is any better than anyone else. I just help where I can.

I've done a bit of more research on what u said would be potentialy dagerous. I found that these had much better befits and only in very very few cases had negative effect. Heres what i found:

Garlic

Adesh K. Jain, M.D., of the Clinical Research Center and Tulane University School of Medicine, New Orleans, reported last year that garlic can lower blood levels of "total" cholesterol and, particularly, of the dangerous low-density lipoprotein (LDL) form. Jain gave 20 men and women 900 milligrams of garlic powder tablets daily and compared them to 22 people getting just a placebo.

By the end of the 12-week study, total blood cholesterol levels dropped by an average of 6 percent among those taking the garlic tablets, compared with only a 1 percent drop among those taking a placebo. The garlic takers also benefited from an 11 percent decrease in the LDL form of cholesterol, compared with a 3 percent reduction in the placebo group.

"Garlic powder, given in the form of tablets in our study, was well tolerated and only one subject reported increased belching and a garlic odor," explained Jain in the American Journal of Medicine (June 1994;94:632-5).
Garlic is also an anticoagulant - a natural blood thinner. H. Kieswetter, M.D., of the University of Saarlandes, Hamburg, Germany, recently found that garlic could help patients suffering from peripheral arterial occlusive disease, characterized by blood clots in the legs.

Typically, patients with the condition are asked to walk, because increased blood flow reduces the number of clots. However, they are easily discouraged because peripheral arterial occlusive disease causes extreme pain after walking only a short distance.
Kieswetter gave 32 patients 800 milligrams of garlic powder tablets daily for 12 weeks, while another 32 patients received a placebo. He then measured their "pain-free walking distance." For the first several weeks, both groups of patients progressed about as they would in a typical walking program. As time went on however, patients taking garlic were able to walk about one-third farther without pain, according to Kieswetter's report in Clinical Investigator (May 1993;71:383-6). The researcher also noted that garlic's benefits, which included decreased blood pressure, could be detected after patients took a single garlic powder capsule.

Where i found this

LUTEIN

What is Lutein?: Lutein is found in the red, orange, and yellow pigments of fruits and vegetables. Some examples are tomatoes, carrots, squash, and also green leafy vegetables. Lutein has been isolated and sold as a nutritional supplement.

What Does Lutein Do?: Lutein is important for eye health. Lutein is found in the retina of our eyes so it needed for healthy vision. Lutein lowers the risk of cataracts and macular degeneration. Lutein may also help to prevent or slow down the thickening of arteries that is called atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis is a major risk for cardiovascular disease.

Why Would I Want to Use Lutein or Lutein Supplements?: People with concerns over vision problems might wish to add more lutein containing foods to their diets. Anyone who has an elevated risk of cardiovascular disease may wish to add lutein.

Where Do I Find Lutein?: Fruit, berries, and vegetables with red, orange, and yellow pigments are sources of lutein and are an important part of a healthy diet. Green leafy vegetables like spinach also contain high amounts of lutein. If you don't eat many fruits or vegetables, you can take lutein as a supplement. One good source is Twin Lab Ocugard

And there are much more resources that i have read to back my statement. I think you should take a second look before saying things are dangerous for someone.... weight the benefits to the small percent of things that may go wrong...

Ok, it should be noted tablets are NOT capsules. Quality of absorption is important here and undisclosed so we have no idea how much made it into the system.

It should also be noted, no matter what the source, thinning of blood is being used in place of PROPERLY CIRCULATING BLOOD.

Example:

Fireman A goes to a fire and has a garden hose. He tries to put out a fire with water at a rate of 10 gal per minute.

Fireman B goes to the fire and uses a firehose. The firehose puts out 10 gallons PER SECOND.

Fireman C shows up, tells A he needs more pressure. A and C crank up the pressure to 20 Gal per minute. -A lot better to fight the fire.

But is that fire getting proper treatment from A and C?

No.

The point here is that garlic is so frequently used BECAUSE it thins blood, not in addition to it. Thinnning blood puts more blood where it needs to go because where it needs to go has either more constrictions, of higher blood demands.

EXERCISE should do this. Why? Becasue thinnning blood HAS SIDE EFFECTS. -Especially if you are injured, live in high altitudes or have health conditions. -Yet although these things are easily addressed by exercise, without the side effects, nobody wants to admit it.

-Because human nature dictates our laziness will always make us choose the easy way out.

Just because a study makes a claim of fact or percieved fact, that doesn't make the tool of the claim the best choice.

Good points, all of them. -And none disagree with what I stated. Again, it is not the end result we question, but HOW. -It is the "how" that decides if we SHOULD or not. Never should the end result be the reason for anything.

Note the above. --Prevents thickening of arteries. Great stuff. -Unless your arteries are already weakened. Again, these things are MEDICINES and need to be treated as such.

Can you tell me how strong your arteries are?
Would you risk your life knowing an injury could cause internal bleeding?
Most of us have nothing to worry about by statistics. -But every life is not a statistic.

Why Would I Want to Use Lutein or Lutein Supplements?: People with concerns over vision problems might wish to add more lutein containing foods to their diets. Anyone who has an elevated risk of cardiovascular disease may wish to add lutein.

Again, good stuff.
And there are much more resources that i have read to back my statement. I think you should take a second look before saying things are dangerous for someone.... weight the benefits to the small percent of things that may go wrong...

I agree with your statement. Herbs have a beneficial effect. That was never in question. The question is WHY they have the end result effect, HOW, and IS THAT A GOOD THING FOR ALL?

Tha answer is clearly no.

You did the best thing anyone can do: you did your research. I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 10 or more comprehensive books on herbs alone. The more data, the better. By finding out why things work instead of simply how, we can determine as to if we should use the benefit each provides. End results should never be the reason.

Decapitation fixes headaches.

Should we use it?

I wouldn't.

First of all i would like to thank you once again for giving me all the tools i need to make an educated decision... This is a great disscussion..

I liked your example with the firemen that made it easier for me to understand.

Just because a study makes a claim of fact or percieved fact, that doesn't make the tool of the claim the best choice

But That gives good input for an educated choice, right?

Decapitation fixes headaches.

lol thats a good one

I guess the whole thing amounts to what one's circumstances are and what type of situation one is in.
