To the OP, I like to start with a 15% reduction off of maintenance. Your number seems little low. Based on experience, 15 calories per pound of bodyweight usually gets pretty close to your true maintenance.

Best way to find your true maintenance without getting hooked up to machines is simple. Track your food intake for 2 weeks. Were you gaining or losing weight. If you neither gained nor lost.... you just found your maintenance.
