What do you put on your Tuna?

I like to mix tuna and rice and in the past I would always add mayo or salad dressing. I can't eat it dry... I want to stop eating mayo for sure, and I am not a big fan of salad dressing anyway...

So what is a good, healthy alternative?

Thanks!

maybe you are better off getting the tuna in oil, then.

No he isn't. My tuna has some mayo in it. I do highly recommend using the smart balance mayo for the extra good in fats. It also doesn't have high fructose corn syrups like most. You can make your own with omega 3 eggs as well.

Fats aren't bad. Watch the ingredients and make sure it fits into your daily ratio.

As far as the tuna in oil it isn't bad for you, just much higher in calories. If you can fit it into your ratio and caloric needs then its fine, just a good protein/fat combo. I personally like mine in water and then adding a little mayo but to each their own.

The oil in tinned tuma is often Sunflower oil, which isnt very good at all. So pour out excess oil if its sunflower.

I often use tuna(in water) as a reserve food if I dont have anything else and then just mix it with water and chug it down, tinned tuna isnt very well tasting imo.

i love tuna, i have it almost every other day for lunch.

1 Can of Tuna
1 Table Spoon of light mayo
Cut up sweet onions
A couple dashes of lemon juice
A little bit (sometimes more then a little bit) dried dill sprinkled on top
Plus any other kind of freeze dried or fresh herbs you like

My mouth is starting to drool

What I do is mix tuna with mayo, then toast a bagel and put the tuna on the bagels. Then put a slice of cheese over the bagel and put it in the oven on broil for just a couple minutes. It's a tuna melt, I'm sure a lot of you have heard of them and maybe even had them. They are delicious and at least 30g of protein.

What you guys in the US eat your tuna IN water :-o
I'm from the UK and never heard of anybody eating it in the water, always drain all of it out. I usually eat it plain with all the water drained out and put it into a salad.

Tuna - water drained
Light mayo - just enough so that the tuna isn't dried out
place on 100% whole wheat bread
place lettuce on top of the tuna, cover with other slice of bread
YUM!

I also LOVE tuna melts although, I have never tried it on a bagel...

Tuna

I don't care for the flavor of most low fat mayo, but I DO like the flavor of full fat mayo mixed with plain lowfat or fat free yogurt. I figure it's an alternative to the "light" stuff, but better tasting to my palate. The yogurt is tangy and fresh tasting, IMO. Just another alternative to consider.
