Were you treated differently after losing a lot of weight?

Well... how dare you decide to improve yourself?

Unfortunately that is the mentality of some people. They are miserable but haven't found the desire to do anything about it yet, and will resent you for wanting to do something about your situation. You know... 'misery loves company.' Old saying, but a grain of truth to it. I've had 'friends' like that... I don't associate with them anymore. Hard to be supportive of a person determined to drag you down to their level instead of aspiring to come up to yours.

Hopefully some of your friends will look at you as inspiration and decide to do the same. Good to have a real life support network as well as the one online.

Ack, sorry... touchy subject with me... :smash:

What I really need to do is make new friends. I moved back here after living abroad for many years and I've found it hard to branch out and make real-life friends.

I never really went out much, so I wasn't very social. The people who comment and mostly just ask questions are my family, basically the only people I saw before. :D

I go out more now, but I don't go hang out- because there is nowhere to do that here. Unless you want to drink in the middle of nowhere. I don't drink, and sitting in the middle of nowhere with a bunch of underage people drinking isn't fun!

I would say people treat me the same so far. :p my family is very proud of me, they may take me a little more serious now though!

I've found that friends come and friends go. When I was in college all my friends smoked pot, as did I. when I quit I just had no desire to hang out with them anymore and they didn't feel like hanging out with me cause I didn't allow the hotbox the car we drove in. Its the same with food. You can't hang with chicks that go out and eat crap when you want to go out and eat good food.

oh yee! huge difference..........esp from girls , i walk into clubs and i can see people looking at me , my friends are always tellin me how amazing i look (hope i really do look amazing , and they arent just saying that cos of what i used to look like) , people respect me more etc etc...

lost 110 pounds

The seat of my pants is looser now; noticeably so.

A friend of a friend of mine once dieted down to a size 8 but is now probably around a size 24. She knows I've recently lost a little weight and has actually been a little cool to me recently. She and our mutual friend and I are all overweight by quite a bit. I can see myself getting kicked out of that clique if I lose too much weight. :toetap05:

oh darn. you don't get to be a member of their little club? what a shame.
