Well, it's that time of year again....

My Christmas gluttony and exam-time inactivity has guilted me into hopping back on the weight loss bandwagon! I fell off last year, and have gained about 25 lbs in that time. The unflattering fit of my clothes and undeniable double chin should be incentive enough for me to lose weight, but I'm struggling to get motivated. That's why I've signed up here; I think it will be good to be held accountable.

I took a look at some of the before and after pictures, and they are so impressive! I'm hopeful that before long, I'll have an "after" picture of my own to share.

A bit about me: I'm a 23 year old female. I'm in my 6th year of university, pursuing a career that I'm extremely uncertain about. School has consumed my life for a long time, at the expense of everything else. It's time for me to get some balance back in my life. I'm 5'4 and I weigh 210 lbs. Ultimately, my goal weight is 140 lbs, but for now I'm just going to concentrate on losing 15 lbs each month, because it seems less daunting that way.

It's late so I won't write any more right now, but I'll just say I'm very happy to have found this place. I think it's exactly what I need right now (especially the "diary" subforum), and I look forward to getting to know all of you!

I'm right there with ya.
I'm Brittany. I'll be 21 on January 12th. I'm beautiful and I carry my weight well.... there's just a lot more than I want to carry!
I'm 5'6. about 300 (eek) +/-.... hoping to get down to a healthy 130ish, 140ish 125ish. whatever is attainable & healthy; I'm going for it.
I'm a fashion designer--- in the early stages--- and would love for people to take me more seriously. Plus, when I do hopefully get all successful it would be a pain in the ass to be fat and dressing all of those supermodels! ha ha.
but seriously, I just want to get healthy and be able to wear my own designs without having to buy extra fabric to drape around my fat suit of a body. :)

Fashion designing...wow, that sounds so interesting! Do you make your own designs, as well? (I love sketching/drawing, but reattaching buttons is about as far as my sewing "expertise" goes!)

I completely agree about setting a goal weight that's attainable and healthy rather than based on some arbitrary number. I kind of randomly chose 140 lbs because based on the BMI recommendations, but the number isn't as important to me as protecting my health as I get older, and trying to get my confidence back.

Thanks for the post Brittany - good luck with your weight loss and career aspirations! :)
