Weird cramping..

So I've been running on and off for a while now...about the last 2 years.. these last 2 months I've been really consistent with it, and running anywhere from 5-7 days a week. I've had no problems with it until about this last week...

Before my trip to Virginia Beach, I was on a run with my mom when I got intense cramping right by my right ribs. I actually had to stop her so I could sit down. Recently, it hasn't been as bad, but everytime I run I get pain or little cramps under either the right rib or both ribs... I'm not sure what it is, they don't feel like "tired cramps" or normal cramping.. I'm also careful not to eat/drink too soon before running.. I'm not sure what it is.

It doesn't bother me if I do like a cardio video..only when I'm running or briskly walking.. it hurt when I was walking home today.

It kind of feels like it did when I strained the muscles under my ribs from coughing..but it seems kind of impossible to strain those from running..

Any ideas?

I am not sure,

I get some cramping due to BM pain when running sometimes. I also get a sort of very painful cramping in my abdomen that feels exactly like TOM cramps, but as soon as I stop running, it stops.

You could talk to your Doctor about it? or try runnersworld.com, and ask that question in the women's section. :)

Hope you get it figured out.

cramping the extreme majority of the time is due to either lack of hydration, or lack of electrolytes in the body (sodium and potassium, usually from overhydration of water without a balance of electrolytes)

See a doctor just to make sure everything is ok. You don't want to hurt yourself more if something is wrong.

I tend to agree with Jynus that it's probably lack of hydration. Other than that, have you recently increased the amount of effort you put into your runs? Are you running faster or longer? I do find that sometimes when I first step things up, I tend to get a bit of a side-stitch like that.
