Weight training and weight loss confusion

Hi
I am a 37 year old 6ft 1 male weighting 13 stone 8 pounds (190 pounds) my bmi is 25.1 and in February this year when i started exercising i was 15 stone (210 pounds). i lost all this weight by doing pure cardio. whereas now i want to build up some muscle (not bodybuilding meathead type) whilst keeping my weight under control. I work out 4 days a week in the gym with weights different body parts on different days for about 1 hour and then i do 25 minutes of cardio. However i cant get past this bleeding 13 stone 8 bracket i eat all the right foods and i drink whey protein. My question is. Should i not bother loosing any more weight or carry on. My Mother saysperhaps im not loosing any more weight because my body is telling me my weight is perfect or do i need my current weight to build muscle.
Im confused

Hey Sean, welcome to the forum!

How long have you been working out with weights? You may not be giving yourself enough time to see any change. Also, do you still feel that you need to lose weight? Or are you just trying to 'tweak' your body shape?

If you are trying to bulk up and loose weight at the same time it can be extremely difficult. Muscle is heavier than fat, fact. So if you are trying to loose weight and gain muscle your going to have to make a compromise.
If you still have subcutaneous fat around the body it may be difficult to see any development of muscles happening. So it may take a bit more time for muscle development become clear to you.
It may also help if you ask for someone else's opinion. As they may be able to be more visible to them.
And like the last person said, you need to be training for around 6 weeks to show clear muscle development.
It also becomes alot harder to loose weight the more you loose :).
