Weight machine suggestions

I'm a lard ass and want to lose weight. My plan is to stop eating like a horse and get exercise. I weigh 220 and I should weigh about 180. I hope to lose about 3 lbs/week. I was thinking of getting a weight machine. I can do cardio work on the road. I think a 300 lb weight set would do. Does anyone have any information or suggestions with weight machines? I'd like to keep it under $500.00
 
I'd buy a set of dumbbells and a decent weight bench. Because you can't gain muscle very effectively during a diet then calisthenics like squats, lunges, push-ups, pull-ups, etc. along with some mild weight training will help preserve muscle tissue as you lose weight.
