Weight Loss

Im a 20 yr old male, 5'10" and 251 lbs. BMI 36 and Body fat 29%. I recently began counting calories and realized i was eating anywhere from 2500-3000 calories a day. After I realized that, I cut back my calorie intake to 1500 which may or may not be healthy as I've gotten mixed answers in most places. I drink about 5 20oz bottles of water a day and cut out a lot of fat and sugar an upped my protein intake and take vitamin supplements. I started this about about 4 days ago and already down to 251 from 255. Is this just water weight or am I actually losing weight. And if it is actual weight is it more fat or lean muscle? I've heard that obese people will lose more fat than muscle when they do something like this.

hey, when I first began losing weight, I lost 5 lbs in the first week and wondered the same things you're wondering then someone told me, not to think about it... she said it doesn't matter if it's water or fat, it's 5 lbs gone and that's all that matters :)
You're off to a good start, congrats on your loss! But I also think (because of your age, weight, height, and genger) you should increase your calorie intake and just make healthier choices. You're young and if you do this right then you won't have to start all over again like most people do, so take your time :)
